The thing I keep thinking about is the 31 other teams (and their fans) that will be in an uproar if the sentence is to light. -not to mention the media.

I mean just look at the harsh examples he's made of Wade Wilson , P-man Jones, Vick and Chris Henry...etc. I think all of these were lesser crimes. The Patriots got caught cheating! red handed. Thats about as bad as it gets in my book. -- If the the Pats don't get some kind of "death penalty", I'm gonna be pissed, and I think a lot of other people will, too.

Maybe even enough to cost Goodell his job.
I'll tell you this, what BB did is worse to me than what Wade Wilson did.

Why should they forfeit the game? The camera was confiscated something like 8 minutes into it and they never used the film. The result had NOTHING to do with the violation.

Supposedly they use the films on their offseason review. It's still illegal and BB should be punished but let's not get too crazy here. I think the more interesting side of the story is the likely fact that Mangini, who probably knew the camerman and what he was up to, turned in his former mentor Bellichick. Now THAT's funny.

So trying to gain a copetitive edge is worse than killing dogs, shooting people and gambling? Are you from Canada?

That's what would make me the most angy.

I really don't know if his suspention will hurt our team, but it's just the principal. Wade Wilson is a stand up guy that made a mistake for the right reasons.

Belichick (and the others involved) are cheaters and had better get a stiffer penalty.
"Coaches are held to a higher standard". At least that is what my uncle Rodger G. has taught me. :D

Ahhhh! You can break the rules for the right reason? Like improving your life? Like gaining a competitive edge?

Wilson was trying to improve the quality of his life, not ferrett out a way to cheat the game.

That's what he meant.

Don't get me wrong, I like what Goodell has done, so far. The Wilson thing sucks, but as long as he's being strict consitantly, I'm ok with it.

Killing dog's is despicable, but has nothing to do with the game of football.

Shooting people is worse, but I don't think P-Man shot anyone, And again, nothing to do with the game of football.

and gambling...mmehh...as long as is not on a NFL game...I don't care.

Sorry, I inferred from your previous post that you thought Pacman and Vick weren't as bad.

Is holding on the offensive line cheating? Yes it is. They have an established penalty that fits the crime. Stealing signs is worse than holding, but less than steriods. Because Wade Wilson was treated unfairly doesn't mean Goodell can just go crazy! This isn't gambling, drugs, guns, or any other crimiinal conduct. It is an in game infraction.

The fix is to give defenses a headset. Why didn;t the rule scommittee approve that? Because it inhibits their team's ability to gain a competitive advantage. The NFL should not focus just on the Pats, but every team that voted no on that rule change!
Yeah, get out the broad brush in the hope that something compelling gets painted. Go lobby the competition committee for headsets.

Let's stick to this incident, can we, instead of pulling out any other half-related scenarios that try to bolster your argument?

Perspective is lost opn some folks.

Everyone steal signals. That is why teams use different signals and change them. Why do you lock you house when you leave? Because there are people out there trying to steal things. Why do players cut during training camp have to turn in their playbook?

Perspective folks!

I completely understand were your coming from, and you might be right.

But the fact that everyone is stealing signals is news to me (since the pats got caught) and doesn't make it any less wrong in my eyes.

As the old cliché goes 32 wrongs don't make a right. It just seems to me like there should be more honor and morality in the NFL.....like they have in Golf, for instance.

Wait until this weekend. I want to hear what Jimmie Johnso has to say.

IF he came out and said, heck yes, I stole signals whenever I could" would we disinherit him?

I do not like them getting picks taken away.
Say fine the owner. Not a problem - petty cash.
Drop the pats say ten slots in the coming draft on the first three rounds.
CAP hit then for 2 to 4 mil for next year.

Hiopefully this cures them.

I was thinking:

Suspend all involved 5-8 games

Lifetime ban for camara man and who ever told him to film

Turn all picks into 7th rounders

Cap hit for 5 mill (enough to cost them a couple of players)

everyone tries to steal signals
but thats a far leap from filming the coaches signals which is a blatant rules violation
wilsons case has nothig to do with it, he was not cheating to win a game
a forfiet for stealing signals is never gonna happen.
i suspect a fine for the team and bill, maybe a suspension of bill for a game or two, and a couple of draft picks the highest being a 3rd round
if this is all there is thats plenty of punishment
the real question is what was the deal with the comminications system i've heard about?
if they where using the communications system to help steal signals thats another can of worms and would warrant more punishment
