T.O. and Terry G. taking the week off
May 31, 2007 12:36 PM
Since I completely left you guys hanging yesterday on my "Cowboys breaking news" tease, here it is:
According to eyewitness accounts, the Cowboys' starting wide receivers, Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn, have not attended any of the club's Organized Training Activities sessions this week. But before we dispatch our satellite truck armada to Valley Ranch, let me also say that safety Roy Williams, linebacker DeMarcus Ware, running back Julius Jones and nose tackle Jason Ferguson were also among a group of players who missed at least one of the voluntary sessions.
With that qualifier out of the way, I think offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has to be somewhat disappointed that he's trying to implement a new passing scheme while quarterback Tony Romo is throwing to Patrick Crayton and Sammy Hurd. And by the way, I'm still trying to confirm whether Romo made it back from his Miss Universe duties in time for Tuesday's session.
Do any of you guys care about players not showing up for voluntary workouts?
All this reminds me of something former Cowboys linebacker Darren Hambrick once said when asked why he wasn't attending "voluntary" workouts.
"What do voluntary mean?" asked Hambrick.
It's the same question I'm asking myself this morning.
