7. Ed Reed, S, Ravens
9. Troy Polamalu, S, Steelers
11. Ray Lewis, ILB, Ravens
13. Dwight Freeney, DE, Colts

Seriously, would anyone consider any of these defensive players before D Ware if a FA draft were held today?

EDIT: forgot Hayensworth on that list, too.

this is definitely a freakin' joke

Sporting News came out with the 100 best players in the NFL that 106 panelists including 27 hall famers picked. I was shocked at some of the qb's that were on the list and Romo was not even mentioned. Here the QB's that were listed:

1) Peyton Manning
2) Tom Brady
18) Drew Brees
22) Donvan McNabb
50) Eli Manning
51) Brett Favre
54) Phillip Rivers
63) Matt Ryan
68) Jay "Baby" Cutler
88) Michael Vick

Vick just got out of prison and Ryan has not even won a playoff game. Favre skills have diminsh( screwed me last year for my fantasy team).

By the way some Cowboys did make the list:
15) Demarcus Ware
38) Jason Witten
79) Leonard Davis
84) Andre Gurode
85) Jay Ratliff

For those that Care:
TO was 33
Shaun Rogers was 71. (Didn't the Browns cut him?)

Ware is only 15th?

That's nuts.

Any D guys ahead of him? If so, it's total crap.

There are 5 defensive players ahead of Ware.

Haynesworth, Reed, Polamalu, Lewis and Freeney.

I dont think you could put Freeney ahead of him at this point. I have no beef with Polamalu or Reed b/c they have maintained a level of excellence.

Freeney belongs where Peppers is.

I feel that Haynesworth is totally overrated. Since he just broke the bank, I guess will find out where he really stands this season. If anything, Haynesworth and Ware should switch places on this list.

This is the same list Mosley and DMN ran a few days ago, its awful and honestly isnt worth debating over. The "experts" on that panel obviously made it a popularity contest more than anything else.

Freeney and Lewis? that list is ridiculous. Hell even putting Haynesworth ahead of Ware is ridiculous and that's not even the homer in me talking. Anyone with knowledge of the NFL would atleast put Ware in Polamalu and Reed's company.

Has to be one of the more moronic lists of all time. It looks like they threw a bunch of names in a hat and randomly picked them.

Here's a partial list of their "experts"

Among the NFL legends who filled out ballots for SN were Hall of Famers Dan Dierdorf, Mike Ditka, Art Donovan, Bob Griese, Dan Hampton, Ted Hendricks, Paul Horning, Sam Huff, Stan Jones, Leroy Kelly, Paul Krause, Jim Langer, Steve Largent, Larry Little, Mike McCormack, Randall McDaniel, Hugh McElhenny, Lenny Moore, Anthony Munoz, Alan Page, Mel Renfro, Gale Sayers, Lee Roy Selmon, Jackie Slater, Lynn Swann, Fran Tarkenton and Jack Youngblood.

In other words, a lot of people who *should* have known better.
