IRVING, Texas – Left guard Nate Livings was unable to finish Tuesday’s organized team activity after getting his right knee examined by head athletic Jim Maurer and he could need a precautionary MRI.

Livings had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in the offseason but had not missed any workouts. He was bothered for much of last year by the injury but started every game.

A source close to Livings said he was fine.

Nah, I didn't think he was. Tyron plays a tougher position and I just thought he was more consistent.

Why? He was our best offensive lineman last year.

Smith was our best OL. His grades from the various sources that people cite here were deflated b/c of penalties -- many of which the staff believed were caused by Cook.

I love Tyron Smith's potential as a franchise left tackle, and I can appreciate him struggling with the move last season. But to say he had a good season for a LT is a stretch and breaking out the anointing oils a little early based on draft position. And Livings had a good season for a guard.

Perhaps. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that the dislike for Livings has a lot more to do with people wanting a different OG signed and with comments from various Cincy forum fans than it has anything to do with how the guy actually played on the filed for us most of last year.

Good grief, somebody get Moore on the blower:

"Mackenzy Bernadeau is rehabilitating from offseason shoulder surgery. Bernadeau, who missed all of last year’s offseason because of hip surgery and part of training camp because of knee surgery, could return for the June 11-13 minicamp."

Just stay in bed Mack, sheesh....

This.

Folk's dislike for Livings has colored their thinking.

Even if he was the 2nd least bad OL on the team last year, the tentative nature of his physical situation and the fact that our other OG is named Bernadeau, probably warranted some off-season upgrades at the position, I'm thinking.

Depending on the shoulder surgery, it could be a complete pipedream for Mack to be back by June 11-13, or be anywhere near 100% by the start of the season.

Here we go again. The lack of cohesion is destroying the OL more than the scheme or talent level. We need the starting 5 on the field together ASAP

What about amongst guards?

Sure he was the best out of the guards, but you know that isn't saying much.

Am I reading into this right that the pollyanas are supposed to be the traffic cop, and the realists are the hysterical rampaging crowd here? Because I don't think that's all that far off if that's the point you're making.

Yep.

That was the point he was making.

You nailed it.

I know his position well enough to know that's probably not right, but I can't see any other reasonable explanation for posting that clip. Can you? He's saying people who aren't worried about the OL are the ones running around hysterically? That just doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?
