Yeah, he didn't come across as ignorant, just provided a different viewpoint.
But he was asked about it, DE. That's kinda the point. He was asked and he gave his opinion and stated it very clearly. Players can't be afraid to state their opinion on the Vick matter. And it sucks that if a player doesn't come out all self-righteous against it, then he gets bashed.
He admitted it is a sub-culture, so while it's condemned by mainstream Southerners, there's a reason it still exists and why it's still very popular to some and TO tried to explain that. At least that's how I took the segment.
Just saw Goodell's interview. He did well, imo.
WG, my opinion differs from Owens. What he described, I have personal knowledge of also.
He doesn't have to be self-righteous. Instead, he
could evaluate what dog fighting, etc., is and it isn't entertainment. That's the appeal for some. It's bloodlust at its most fundamental level.
IMO, if someone agrees to an interview and a question is posed, he or she should state their personal opinion while keeping in mind what the topic means to everyone involved. The topic is dog fighting and it doesn't only center on those involved in the sub culture (even though that is their belief). Basically, Owens said that he knew about dog fighting growing up and (edit) believes that it shouldn't be that big of a negative public factor. He stated that it's a legal issue and should be just that.
It's not. If I had any dreams of that fact being supplied by Owens during his interview, I admit that I shouldn't have.
