ESPN on TO and the speech

From 1st and 10 this morning:

"It's obvious that he's trying to get under Bill Parcell's skin."
"You gotta get rid of the guy."
"Bill Parcells didn't even want the guy."
"Bill Parcells is 64 going on 93."

It's pathetic how hard ESPN and its pundits work to try to manufacture outrage at ANYTHING relating to Terrell Owens. Is this anything new or surprising? No. I'm surprised we didn't get this from ESPN:

"If I can't stay awake, I can't stay awake. It is as simple as that. It ain't about that at all. It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about a speech. We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise wide receiver, and we're talking about a speech. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about a speech, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about a speech. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last but we're talking about a speech man. How silly is that?

Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I honestly do but we're talking about a speech. We're talking about a speech man. We're talking about a speech. We're talking about a speech. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about a speech. When you come to the stadium, and you see me play, you've seen me play right, you've seen me give everything I've got, but we're talking about a speech right now."

QUESTION (a dumb one): is ESPN and the media making more of this than what it is?

Go Cowboys!

Few things.

First: TO needs to shutup.

Second: Romo has been hot for a while and isn't quite the same story after 50 other storys saying the same thing. Back to TO being the story because he is just a much better story.

Third: It's ESPN. What did you expect?

ESPN is upset that the Cowboys came to New York and beat their Giants. T.O. was joking. They better worry about their Giants in Carolina. All that emotion the Giants had and ESPN had for a Giants win and them in control of the division was spoiled by the Cowboys. Hey ESPN its plenty of real turmoil right there in your own backyard with your New York Giants. Its obvious that most of the guys in that locker room is under Coughlin's skin.

Heck, even the little ball of Jen-Jen said she was right there when he said it and he was totally joking. She even admits this is a made up story in order to pile on.

They just cannot stand it because all seems calm
Why not make a joke of it. Let's be honest, it takes the focus (and media pressure) off of Romo going into a pivotal conference game. We know Owens can handle the media pressure b/c he basically just ignores it.

Calculated move by Owens to help his QB? hehe

Hey Saints fan, are you anywhere around see? See what it means to be a Cowboy fan and what we have to put up with. Would you really have wanted the Saints with a new head coach to have had to put up with the media and the dregs that came with them during your TC. It's a wonder their efforts to manufacture TO contraversy wasn't a distraction. Parcells knows how to handle players like this & I bet Peyton watched real hard how Parcells handled Keyshawn (who ain't no Saint) while both were in Dallas.

In fact any time a player had something bad happened, if he was a former Cowboy it's the lead story. Sure we had some players in the past who did things they shouldn't and were appropriately punished but we've had essentially choir boys since Parcells has been here cause he likes character guys. Keyshawn behaved himself, Terry Glenn has behaved himself & none of our guys have been arrested, suspended for steroids or any other activity unlike a lot of other teams (not talking about your recent problem w/Hollis) but more about the Bengals, etc.

Cripes, if TLBOH is on TO's "side" on this one, then it is MORE than nothing. Screw ESPN and Skippy boy.

Again, Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........ :laugh1:

At least as to the Cowboys, ESPN has become the "drive-by media"* of sporting news.

* "Drive-by media" is a registered trademark of the Rush Limbaugh show and EIB Network.

What tells me this was a joke is because both Galloway and Engel didn't mention Owens in either of their columns this morning.

Maybe they missed a deadline or something.

Is this a joke?? If you replace the words "a speech" with "practice," you get the Iverson rant. :laugh2:

Reggie McNeal made SEVEN the number of Bengals arrested in 2006. But I'm willing to bet Terrell's speech incident gets WAY more airtime on ESPN.

You're right..it's not easy being a Cowboys fan sometimes.

Heck, tell me you still don't hear Irvin/Crackboys crap
