ESPN on TO and the speech

Is this a joke?? If you replace the words "a speech" with "practice," you get the Iverson rant. :laugh2:
Yeah it was a joke. Took the Iverson transcript and embelished with what I'm ESPN hopes Terrell would say about the matter. But we know Terrell handles the media better than that hehe

ESPN is upset that the Cowboys came to New York and beat their Giants. T.O. was joking.

How dare TO joke. TO can't joke. His sole purpose in life is to tear teams apart. He's the devil's spawn ... An evil-doer, if you will:rolleyes:

I guess I'm slow, but what speech is TO talking about?

Could someone put this in proper context, please?

Thanks.

Look for the article that LaTuna posted yesterday from Sports Illustrated where TO comments on Parcells speech.

Parcells gave his speech Monday, a day after a pivotal win in New York and hours before Owens flew to Los Angeles for an ostentatious 33rd birthday party he threw himself. All sorts of Hollywood types showed up and the Maloof family, owners of the Sacramento Kings, gave him a diamond-crammed watch worth nearly $50,000.

Back in the locker room Wednesday, Owens insisted he didn't recall Parcells' words of wisdom about the things the Cowboys (8-4) need to do down the stretch as they try to win their division for the first time since 1998.

"I can't remember. I had my mind on the party," he said when asked a second time about Monday's speech. "I have no earthly idea of what you are possibly talking about. I don't remember. I was already in L.A. ... He'll have to redo it."

ESPN in the National Inquiror of sports "journalism" and TO said something to them he never should have.

These two combined things have led to craporama in the media.

I can't believe the number of people on this board who buy into this crap every single time.

They jump on it with both feet, like they did this time, and like you say, now the story is gone.

I watched the tape my self, ... nothing to see here folks, move along.

Hey Saints fan, are you anywhere around see? See what it means to be a Cowboy fan and what we have to put up with. Would you really have wanted the Saints with a new head coach to have had to put up with the media and the dregs that came with them during your TC. It's a wonder their efforts to manufacture TO contraversy wasn't a distraction. Parcells knows how to handle players like this & I bet Peyton watched real hard how Parcells handled Keyshawn (who ain't no Saint) while both were in Dallas.

In fact any time a player had something bad happened, if he was a former Cowboy it's the lead story. Sure we had some players in the past who did things they shouldn't and were appropriately punished but we've had essentially choir boys since Parcells has been here cause he likes character guys. Keyshawn behaved himself, Terry Glenn has behaved himself & none of our guys have been arrested, suspended for steroids or any other activity unlike a lot of other teams (not talking about your recent problem w/Hollis) but more about the Bengals, etc.

Christ what an ignorant comment. Tell me you didn't spend all night thinking of that to post as an argument against the Saints.

Skip Bayless is a flipping idiot......he just hates ANYTHING T.O. they (ESPN), should kick him off the network. He'll bash T.O., and our Cowboys, any chance he gets.

What tells me this was a joke is because both Galloway and Engel didn't mention Owens in either of their columns this morning.

Maybe they missed a deadline or something.

TO was clearly avoiding the question. He didnt want to let on that we are thinking Championship. IMO he wasnt dissing Bill. He was avoiding topic.

Remember Terry Glenn saying that TO likes to kid around a lot, but that he had to help teach TO kind of how to relate that humor to the coaching staff?

This just seems like one of those cases where TO is trying to be funny. It comes across weird, for sure. But I think we can all admit TO has some weird in him.

So much for the idea that the player was "joking". In his interview with Irvin, he said he was not listening, he does not get ready for games until Wednesday and that his focus was all on the party since they JUST beat the Giants.

I don't think so, although it has no doubt been blown out of proportion by ESPN. The snippets of the interview I've seen TO was pretty defiant and self-righteous in his tone about the whole incident. He screwed up and the media milked it. He just shouldn't have said a thing.

I mentioned that as well. The rest of the interview will be on ESPN with Irvin. He was not joking around. This is not a big issue but it is just another reason why TO gets the coverage he does. Sorry in my view when the guys are at Valley Ranch is should be all business. Focus on your party afterwards not during a team meeting.

"Joke" or not, it was a stupid and disresepctful thing to say.

Nothing good can come from a quote like that other than to get Owens' name back in the media spotlight again.

He either:

1) Truly didn't listen to his Hall-of-Fame coach's speech about doing what it takes to win a Super Bowl

or

2) Lied about not listening in an effort to draw attention from the media.

Either way looks like a boneheaded move to me.

How about Irvin and the rest of the media start asking about leading the league in dropped passes?
