Just because you hate virtually every aspect of this football team does not make those of us who wish to comment on the team with a critical (and logical) thought process "homers."

Perhaps you are actually the problem?

Nah, couldn't be that, right? Because you're always right....right?

Wrong again,,,,. I love the offense, I'm a huge Dez fan. I can't think of one player on offense I don't like. If Escobar gets stronger, we are set at every position. I like almost all of the draft picks the last few years on that side of the ball. Only bad one I can think of is Randle, and he'll be gone this year.

If you can't see that our defense is as bad as all the numbers showed last year, then take off the blinders bro...Iiiiiifffff Lee could play more than he sits, I'd like him more than I do. He can't be counted on when the going gets tough. Mo has been close to a bust. Carter is pathetic, and the other guys are gone....Carr is our best defensive guy right now, what does that say? Unless you are going to throw out Selvie as that guy. My favorite defensive player is OS, and for some reason, our staff would rather play Mo.

You want to know what I hate? Mediocrity!!! A traineeeee for a HC. A GM who would've been fired from any other team in pro sports 16 years ago!!! Ohhhhh, and an owner who is satisfied with good entertainment as much as winning playoff games and championships...

You were right about one thing, I am right most of the time!!!!!

Power rankings are subjective to the authors views of the league. They hardly have any meaning during the season until you get to the final weeks.

They have no meaning in May other than to get people to go to the site where the power rankings are.

I see this as screaming Fire! in a movie theater just to get a reaction.

Evidently it worked.

Purely subjective polls are the same as cat urine. They are of equal value and stink just as bad.
Did free agency and/or the 2014 draft compel our voters (John Clayton, Ashley Fox, Dan Graziano, Jamison Hensley, Mike Sando and Kevin Seifert) to make a change at the top? That's a resounding no.
Really? A four pager initiated by Clayton, Fox, Graziano, Hensley, Sando and Seifert? How does Clayton, Fox, Graziano, Hensley, Sando and Seifert determine what's relevant within the National Football League?

Oh yeah. They cash checks from ESPN. Yahtzee!

True power rankings are decided on the field--not from between the ears of an Ewok:

The team finished 8-8 last season. That was the team's power ranking back then. The team is now 0-0. That's the team's power ranking right now. People can knock themselves out applying Claytonese formulas gauging how Anthony Hitchens pushes the team up or down rankings that are not even applicable. yeehaw.

Our first power ranking will be either 0-1 or 1-0 following the 49er game in a few months. Our power ranking may be 8-8 by the end of the regular season. It may be lower. It may be higher. Who knows? However, if you feel power rankings created in the middle of May make sense, this guy thanks you from the bottom of his heart:

Only teams that are without a doubt better than us...

Seahawks
Broncos
49ers
Patriots
Packers
Saints
Colts

That's 7 teams... not saying we're the 8th best team, but after these teams it's up in the air. Last season, if we stay healthy, manage late game situations a little better, and have some better luck, we're an 11-5 team and all the "experts" are calling us a top 10 team. NFL is completely different than NBA and many other sports. Being that we only play 16 games, if a couple of plays go our way differently, it completely changes our season. In the Lions game, if we didn't get the holding penalty on our last possession, we're 9-7. Against the Broncos, if Romo doesn't throw a pick late at the worst time imaginable after having his best statistical game ever, we're 10-6. Then during the Packers game, if we simply run the ball and eat clock after holding a 23 point halftime lead, we're 11-5. And that's not even mentioning the Chiefs and Chargers games where we easily could've won as well.

Sounds like I'm just making excuses, but if we learn to manage those situations, we're suddenly a very good team. Any year could be "our year" where all those late game situations go right for us. Every year there's teams that do shockingly better than expected (Chiefs/Panthers), and teams that do shockingly worse than expected (Falcons/Texans).

With that being said, rankings are BS... any NFL team is capable of beating any other NFL team on any given Sunday. Games are won on the field, not on paper.

Against the Broncos, if Romo doesn't throw a pick late at the worst time imaginable after having his best statistical game ever and the defense had stopped at least one of six Denver touchdown drives, we're 10-6..
Fixed.

I hate the current watered down NFL. Free agency has ruined the day of the great teams. Now there are some decent teams , but the dynasty era is over.

The salary cap watered it down more than free agency did.

These smaller market teams still don't spend the money they have in the cap.

I'm really not that sold on Sproles. He's gotten up there in age and is injury prone. Any carries he can take away from McCoy I'll be happy with.

Not to mention, their defense gave up more passing yards per game than ours did last year.

I just don't think they're that good of a team. They were one Kyle Orton fg drive away from missing the playoffs last year. Not sure how that translates to them being 13 spots better than Dallas

I live around Philly and tell them the same thing, no way is Philly better then us, we are even

We had the worst defense in football and lost Ware and Hatcher. We added Henry Melton coming off a serious knee injury and even if he plays at his best it'll be hard to top what Hatcher did last year at 3T. We should have some better depth along the DL but it's anyone's guess if that will result in improvement. The back 7 is virtually the same.

Can't get too worked up over being ranked in the bottom 3rd, the team has to prove they deserve respect. Right now our coaching staff and defense don't carry a lot of respect based off recent results.

Top 7 are powerhouses. I agree with others...no way Philly is 9 and Dallas is 22.

when we can beat them when it counts, than you can make that statement. UNtil than, they outcoached us.
