I remember that his job as head coach in Denver was not well thought of. Wasn't he fired there after one or two years. And while he had success in Buffalo, he mismanaged the QB situation with JOhnson and Flutie and that didn't help him. He had one of those stigmas on him that he was a great defensive coordinator but was not head coaching material. Kind of like a Ray Rhodes type....He has proven that wrong with the job he has done in Dallas this year....But even with the success in Dallas, there are some here that would rather JJ fire him in order to keep Jason Garrett from getting a job elsewhere.

Yes, Wade actually made the smart move benching Flutie. Had they won that playoff game instead of that miracle return. History might have been far kinder to Wade Phillips legacy in Buffalo. They were dead in water with Flutie that year late in season.
