Cooper's intensity was inconsistent. He just wasn't worth 20 mil. The Cowboys have enough firepower to compensate, especially if their running game takes off. Of course that's if Zeke and Pollard can stay healthy

In the end, I don't really think the Cowboys lost too much. You may think they didn't gain anything but I think that the door is open for younger players to establish themselves.

With that said, the Cowboys problem has never been talent. Recently, it has been about franchise culture. They simply don't put winning first. They don't have a plan. Their authority structure is pathetic. The wrong people are making the final football related decisions..

Great point about never lacking talent. We're always loaded with it.

I remember watching the last two teams to eliminate us in the playoffs rushing for a combined near 400 yards and thinking this is clearly not a talent issue.

But I do not see other NFC teams taking a step up. Good drafts like NYG and PHL don't always pay off in the first year.

I think the fate of the Cowboys rest in their 2021 draft class stepping up and in.

I would change #3 and 4. I think the Cowboys were the 4th or 5th best in the NFC last year and haven't really seen them improve that team.

If they weren't in the same division as LA, they probably would be one of the top four, but they can't win the NFC if they can't win their division. Doesn't mean they wouldn't still whip us.

Coach, Have to disagree, the Eagles added an all pro Wideout, and did not have the talent loss we had in Coop and Randy.
They had a stronger draft than us, and their picks could step up just as easy as ours could.
Bottom line, the Eagles gained talent while we lost some.
Be interesting to see how much the gap has closed.

The challenge they have to overcome is at quarterback, but adding talent around him certainly helps their cause.

Their coach retired, which makes that a more shaky situation. As a head coach, Todd Bowles has a 26-44 record, not exactly awe-inspiring.

Maybe so, but the talent we've added happens to be in positions of monumental need. Of course the draft is a crap shoot and we will need to see how it pans out.

I'd argue fixing our run game and run defense propels us a good step or two forward.

The problem is that most of those needs were made monumental because of the players we got rid of or allowed to leave: Cutting Collins created the need for Smith, trading Cooper created the need for Tolbert, not re-signing Gregory created the need for Williams. We might end up better at those positions, but other teams got better at positions where they didn't have a great need.

The Eagles, for example, drafted Jordan Davis even though they re-signed Cox, have Hargrave and saw flashes from Milton Williams. I mean, Cox is slowing down, but they took a position that was already pretty strong and potentially made it stronger. We more or less treaded water.

The 49ers have 2 QBs on their roster right now: one who is still not able to throw due to surgery and will likely get injured again this year and another who they traded up to get but are somehow still hesitant to trust him over the guy who is always injured. That is a big problem for a Super Bowl push.

I'm an optimist in life and usually a pessimist when it comes to the Cowboys. But I have zero fear of the Eagles. It's because of their QB. His pro bowl appearence doesn't impress me, I think the QB is trash. He's really good when involved in the run game, but when it comes time to throw the ball, forget it. Minshew should be starting over that bum. And I don't even think he's that good. But they want to justify their 2nd round pick.

Our draft was about replacing players we lost.
Other divisional teams added talent on top of what they had.
