As I said, it was likely Austin Davis wanted a long-term contract and the Cowboys were not willing to offer one to a guy who has yet to prove himself in the NFL.

Cowboys keep it in the family in adding Mark Sanchez

For those who live in the world of conspiracy theories, know this: Head coach Jason Garrett and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan have the same agent as Mark Sanchez in David Dunn.

Last year, the Cowboys somewhat surprisingly added Kellen Moore to their practice squad after the final cuts. His agent? Dunn. When the Cowboys lost Tony Romo in Week 2 to a broken left collarbone, they made a trade with theBuffalo Bills for Matt Cassel. His agent? You guessed it, Dunn.

It’s further proof that who you knows matters in the NFL, just as it matters in any walk of life.

The Cowboys visited with Austin Davis, who also isn’t represented by Dunn, last Wednesday and hoped he would sign on to be Prescott’s backup in Romo’s absence. Instead he was looking for some serious commitment to join the Cowboys when he was less than a week from being cut as the Cleveland Browns’ fourth quarterback.

So four days later, the Cowboys have an agreement with Sanchez.

If the agent endorsed it and sold em on the turn over king, then I am completely sold too.

Really, why am I not surprised that our player acquisition strategy is weighted toward representation instead of performance and fit?

No conspiracy! Teams often deal with agents that they have a very good relationship with. They have a good rapport with Dunn so when he has players that he thinks or knows can help he calls all the teams that are looking for that position, the teams listen and they are always up on the pros and cons of players anyway and if they fell Sanchez or whomever can help they are confident that they can get a deal done with Dunn, if the player will sign. austin Davis wanted to be a Cowboy but he wanted assurances that he would not be a quick cut or release

Pretty gullible aren't you to believe something on the Internet.

I don't think it has to do with that..

its more about communication..

tampering is a punishable thing in the NFL..

teams can't talk with playets on an active roster..

but you can talk to an agent.

Its a shrewd way to explore trade possibilitie if you ask me.

Wait, so you believe this is internet rumor? It is an established fact that they share the same representation.

That darn internet! It says things that disturb me so it must all be lies!

And why does that mean it was the only reason he was signed?

Sanchez is ok..

I just don't like him.

Also, I don't see him as a scheme fit at all.

Not the worst pickup though.
