IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said quarterback Tony Romo needs more production and that he can't have another game like he did against the New Orleans Saints. Jones, of course is talking about Tony Romo, who is coming off a distasteful effort where he completed 10 of 24 passes for 128 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in a 49-17 loss to the Saints two weeks ago. Romo, when told about Jones' comments, agreed.

Obviously, Tony Romo is just a Romo hater.

YR

YR, That was awesome!

This team hasn't changed much over the past 6 or 7 years. Our hopes ride on Romo being able to manage the offense and score consistently. When he can't, we don't have a chance at much. Not different than most other NFL teams, but for some to say it is all on coaching is not seeing the entire picture. Romo did not see the field well against New Orleans and did not execute well when he did. Abandoning the run whether by play calling or Romo killing the run call at the line is magnified as play action and sustaining longer drives where the clock is consumed are effectively negated. Romo needs time to survey the field and make his reads. We live or die with Romo executing.

Must do better on 3rd down conversion, Romo and the offense has been terrible on 3rd conversions.

Just watch All-22 and you see the problems.

I have yet to see him be able to use quality footwork and step into a throw in the empty backfield set. It's not because the O-Line doesn't provide him time. It's because he doesn't move his feet properly. And to make matters worse, we keep using empty backfield.

He's not seeing WR's that are open and his velocity and accuracy are off.

He's becoming a QB where he only throws it effectively when they play breaks down (i.e. Denver game).

At this stage of his career with his age, the team really needs to be conscious about his play dropping off tremendously. I remember when Jordan was with the Wizards you would see flashes of his old self for maybe a game or a half of a game, but he could not string anything together. I think last year he struggled in the 1st half just as much as he has struggled now, but he turned it around tremendously in the 2nd half of the season. I just think that with his age he's just going to get to the point where there are no more 'turning things around.'

Of course, if you say that...you're a Romo hater that has some sort of vendetta against the guy.

There's a reason why Jerry mentioned this. And there's a reason why Tony agreed. It's all showing up on film and it's easy to see if you're not some blind lemming for Romo or if you cannot see past the 2nd half of last season.

parcells said it a long time age
romo can be a really really good to great QB but he needs structure
he does not need more freedom as many have been clamoring, he needs a real OC and HC

Jerry - "Listen Tony, if you don't throw for at least 350 yards and 4 touchdowns every...single...game...chances are we won't win a game much less make the playoffs."

Tony - "No ****, Jerry. What else is new?"

We needed four Tds to beat Kansas City?

Cowboys have went 3-3 in the last 6 games. The defense has allowed over 1750 yards in those losses. So of course, Jerry with his astute football mind says Romo needs to do more? :(

as blind as jerry is, even he knows that this defense is done

at least on offense there is a glimmer of hope

Defense is banged up. Offense has its best players. Nice try Romo apologist. Offense is the strength of the team and it sucks. Speak on that

Always an excuse. This time it's the defense being banged up. A question. Why do you talk about the offense, when what you hate is Romo?

Nothing is ever going to change as long as JJ and everyone else just gives up on every aspect of this team, and puts it on Romo.

No, we just needed Tony to throw the ball to Dez in the endzone when Dez had a one on one matchup on Flowers. Dez couldn't even believe Romo didn't throw him the ball.. or even look his way.

"The Cowboys have converted just eight of their last 36 third down passing attempts, which include a 0-9 stretch against the Saints"

This is the part in the article that really made my jaw drop.

I agree, although I think it may be too late given his age.

I remember Parcells saying that he always tells Romo that when he gets in trouble it's when his footwork is not on point.

The other thing I remember Parcells stating is how you can tell a QB is getting old when they start to become afraid to pull the trigger.

unfortunately, as cowboy fans, i am afraid that our most lasting memories from this era will be how we wasted the careers of romo, witten, and ware by poor management and coaching decisions
