Matt Williamson: (12:01 PM ET ) Lets go on the NFC East
Jon (DC): TC15 = Best QB, ever. No seriously though, was Collins' display last night at least an indication that Saunders system does actually put points on the board, and that maybe Campbell just needs a little more time to get it under control?
Matt Williamson: (12:03 PM ET ) It was a small sample against a defense that did not prepare for Collins, but it was certainly a positive sign. Collins is known as a very smart QB who is always well prepared-that showed last night. Wash's pass pro deserves a lot of credit as well. Not to mention, the Bears were rather horrible for at least 80% of that game.
Aaron (DC): I need some expert insight. A lot of Commanders fans are saying that Todd Collins is a better QB than Jason Campbell. What is your opinion.
Matt Williamson: (12:04 PM ET ) No. Campbell is going to be a very good quarterback in this league. Right now, he is probably in the top 15 with an arrow going up. Collins is a backup. Plain and simple.
Geron (B-More, MD): What are the chances the Giants get past the first round of the playoffs this year?
Matt Williamson: (12:05 PM ET ) Decent. I like their chances at TBay or Seattle. Neither of those teams is any better than NYG. Now, that next round is trouble. Big trouble.
Patrick (Ocala, FL): Are Kitna's comments towards the Cowboys defense going to comeback and work against him and his "10-6" Lions?
Matt Williamson: (12:07 PM ET ) I think pregame talk has little to do with what happens between the white lines. These guys are pros and do this for a living. Do you think anyone on the Cowboys or Lions is having a hard time sleeping because of Kitna's comments?
M (DC): With so many holes, should Commanders focus their draft on offense or defense? Who would be an ideal first round pick for them?
Matt Williamson: (12:08 PM ET ) Let's say they pick around #15-obviously it could be higher or lower. A top WR prospect in the middle of the first round with size would probably be my first target. It is a weak safety draft and they just used a #1 at safety, so I might try to fill Taylor's shoes through free agency. A young CB in the early rounds will be needed and the DL still needs work.
Xander (Philly): MM, "These guys are pros"? did you hear what Newman said? He has 30k for the fine he will get for hitting Kitna...Pros? You have to be joking.
Matt Williamson: (12:10 PM ET ) All I am saying is that it doesn't matter so much what these guys say on Tuesday and Wednesday as much as how they play on Sundays. Talk is cheap and I doubt it really makes one team prepare differently at all.
Geron (B-More, MD): Who would be an ideal first round pick for the Giants this year?
Matt Williamson: (12:11 PM ET ) I don't dislike their DTs, but this D could be fanstastic with a front line DT. S is surely an area of concern. I don't see one spot that they HAVE to use a very high pick on, which is a nice situation to be in. WR could be addressed AGAIN as well.
Tyler (Gator Country, FL): Do you see Romo reaching 40 TD passes this season? (33 TD's as of today)
Matt Williamson: (12:12 PM ET ) Yeah, I certainly like his chances. Maybe four this weekend?
SprungOnSports (Long Island): Why in the past years has there been the trend of Super Bowl losers missing the playoffs the next year?
Matt Williamson: (12:14 PM ET ) Could be many reasons-usually their roster gets picked apart somewhat and they only have late draft picks to restock. Players can also get the feeling that they have reached their goal and don't realize that getting back is as tough as it really is. Lasty, winning is tough in this league-that simple. I think the competitiveness of this league is sometimes overlooked a bit. Brutal to stay on top.
Shawn TN : Matt, With all the young talent Dallas has at the WR postion, would it not be smarter to find a vetran in FA vs going young in the draft? Also this would give time to the three young WR Dallas has.
Matt Williamson: (12:15 PM ET ) Are you sold on those guys as true prospects? Not sure that I am. I want to see more. Getting young at CB could be quite helpful. This isn't a team with glaring needs and could also take a RB pretty high to team with Barber next year.
Matt ( Lewes, DE): Will the real Eli please stand up? I give him credit for overcoming the loss of Tiki, but when will the yo-yo effect end?
Matt Williamson: (12:16 PM ET ) I hear ya loud and clear, but I am going to defend him briefly on one thing: Plex's injury has really hurt that passing game now. They don't practice together. His supporting cast isn't helping him enough. Still, the turnovers are far from acceptable.
Shawn TN : Matt, I do agree with Dallas needing a CB, but who do you replace? Not Newman so would you cut time from Henry or Reeves?
Matt Williamson: (12:17 PM ET ) Just draft a guy with a lot of upside. Think Cromartie from a few drafts ago. Maybe a raw guy who could use more time to learn the ropes, but has tremendous upside. Wouldn't cut into anyone's time immediatly.
Brandon Kyle (FL): Matt tell me the truth, you would fel kind of upset if the SB was not NE-DAL? That has to be the best matchup and wow would they both put up some points!
Matt Williamson: (12:18 PM ET ) Wouldn't be upset at all. However, I do think that is the best matchup. GB is VERY good as well and could Big D a very tough game in the NFC Championship. Don't sleep on Indy either.
Roger (Baltimore): Could Jerry Jones throw enough money at randy moss to get him to dallas
Matt Williamson: (12:19 PM ET ) WOW. Two older WRs that cost big money and are well, combustable, personalities. Yeah, I could see him doing that.
Patrick (Ocala, FL): If Romo reaches 40 TD's he would be the 6th QB to reach that number. I think someone is being ignored because of what Brady is doing. What do you think?
Matt Williamson: (12:20 PM ET ) I bet he is the MVP runner up. Also don't think he is being ignored. Everyone around the league knows how well he is playing.
Matt Williamson: (12:20 PM ET ) Also, the ladies are not overlooking Romo.
Scott (Boston, MA): Is it possible that the Commanders could make the playoffs this year? Dallas could be resting it's starters for the finale...
Matt Williamson: (12:21 PM ET ) Dallas resting their starters in Week 17 seems likely at this point-agree? Wash could make a run for sure. I do think Minny has the best shot however for that 6th spot.
Calvin ( Philadelphia Pa): Will the city of Philadelphia ever experience a Super Bowl winner?
Matt Williamson: (12:22 PM ET ) Of course. How many franchises top to bottom would you put over the Eagles? Five maybe. Consistent. Do things right. It will pay off.
Bob (Dallas, TX): Our coaches seem like they are pretty high on Doug Free. Could he be a reason why we might not resign Flozell Adams in the offseason?
Matt Williamson: (12:24 PM ET ) Possibly. I see Free as more of a RT, but maybe. Adams has been pretty darn good this year, but I would worry about signing him to a four year deal or something along those lines for legit LT money. If he leaves, obviously Dallas could address OT with a first round pick and this is a very good OT draft if a few juniors declare.
Jon (Dallas): Are you factoring in karma regarding your answer to Calvin's qustion about the eagles ever winning a super bowl? Their fans will never enjoy a victory.
Matt Williamson: (12:24 PM ET ) Philly fans, have anything to say to that?
John (CA): I heard Roy Williams wants out of Detroit and may want to return to playing in Texas. With that being said, any chance we see him in a Dallas uniform next season?
Matt Williamson: (12:26 PM ET ) I have kicked that around in the back of my cranium. Heard the same things. Crayton could leave via free agency and Glenn could be let go. First rounder for Roy Dubb? I might do it if I were in both teams' shoes. Pretty sure he is due to be a UFA after next year and if he is giong to leave anyways...
Dan, Nashville, TN: Why is everyone so convinced the Giants have locked a Wild Card spot? They barely beat a bad Bears team and have an incredibly tough schedule finishing against New England.
Matt Williamson: (12:27 PM ET ) That is true, but I also don't see them totally collapsing. They prob only need one more win to get in.
Shawn TN : Matt, But could Roy and TO co-exsist? Wow that would be some fire power..
Matt Williamson: (12:28 PM ET ) Sure would be!!! He could learn an awful lot from TO about the finer points of playing the position. Obviously this is an extreme long shot however. Don't get too excited.
Edgar (Austin, TX): Do you see Newman and Ellis going to Hawaii this year? They've been playing at a Pro-Bowl level for a couple of years now and are having excellent seasons despite early injuries.
Matt Williamson: (12:29 PM ET ) They sure have. Just depends on how much the voters hold that time off the field against them. Their level of play deserves it.
Josh (CA): What do you see as the future for Julius Jones in Dallas? To me, every week he looks more ineffective.
Matt Williamson: (12:29 PM ET ) He will go elsewhere after this year. Will look for more carries somewhere. To me, he is a good back, but not a true #1. Dallas will agree I bet.
Brian (NC): Matt, how many D-lineman will the Giants send to the Pro Bowl this year?
Matt Williamson: (12:30 PM ET ) Osi is in for sure. Strahan prob goes. I bet Tuck doesn't make it, but he deserves to. He is a backup, will be hurt from two others going and sometimes it takes a PB caliber season to get recognized before going.
Matt Williamson: (12:31 PM ET ) Everyone, this was fun as usual. Catch me at 1:30 for the AFC North. Have a great weekend.
Matt Williamson: (12:31 PM ET ) Thanks Matt. It's 12:30 and time to chat about the AFC EAST. Yes, only the AFC EAST so let's get into this.
