And since when do we owe a duty to the foreskins or to anybody in general to speak favorably of a move made by their FO. Even if they hired the god of football tomorrow, I will still find a way to berate the move and that is what true rivalry represents. Rivalry apart, this hiring or to be more precise, the multi-million dollar coaching staff may boomerang on them and when it happens, what else do they do since they have lost hope in buying the SB with players. I can smeel desperation from a mile away and it reeks of the deadskins hope to win it all next year. If it doesnt happen, how long does it take before little Snyder realizes he must have to tow the line which others towed to get to the superbowl. You build through the draft and consistency. They dont realize it, They can keep adding HC quality-type personnel, it doesnt guarantee consistency, down the line, someone will come calling for these coaches and from what we know, only GW was promised a HC stint in washington. They have no draft picks, no players to stabilize around (forget the JG's core foreskins mantra, when they cannot rework their contracts anymore, those core foreskins will leave), no future coaching consistency. Im not moved by any of their hirings, like i said, at best, they will be a 9-7 team next season.

All I can think of here is 'too many chiefs and not enough indians'. There comes a point when you have 20 masterminds, that they will not all see eye to eye. When that happens and you have these big names and big egos, well lets say TO could not rip a team apart like a coaching staff at odds.

I think its great one team could round up the best coaches, something all teams should strive for, but like having Dorsett and Walker in the same backfield, It sounds great and looks great on paper, but in the real world, it does not cut it.

Time will tell if this works, but the odds are stacked against it. Imagine what Snyders gunna ask Gibbs when his $100 million coaching staff turns in a 6-10 season. How will the fans react to that? Stay tuned fans, more to come in the near future.

9-7? There's no way...look at how strongly we finished the season, winning 6 of our last 7 games. I do agree that next year will be the determining factor in the new Gibbs era...but then again, it doesn't look like Parcells did all that much in his third year does it?

There's a big difference, Gibbs is at the center of all of these coaches. Yes we'll see what happens, but to me this is far different from trying to assemble a championship with highly paid players.

That happened for two reasons:

1) The league crammed the tough teams on their schedule into the early and mid part of the schedule for the most part, then toward the end of the year the schedule got somewhat softer...

2) The Skins stayed uncommonly healthy until very late in the season (the bubble burst when Randy Thomas broke his leg against the Skins, after that the injuries seemed to come with some swiftness)... if you stay healthy late in the season in the NFL, you're gonna have a considerable advantage over most teams... but it is unreasonable for Skins fans to expect the same kind of good fortune on the injury front two years in a row... since the Skins don't have a whole lot of depth, if they do get bit by the injury bug next year, their play will suffer...

Hey pal, how's life treating you these days?? Good to hear from you, but how come you changed your nom de plume??

It's changed everywhere i go. Different on each site. Life is alright, the offseason is officially here for both teams...and the season is a looong way away. I joined this site before i joined CC.

I will give you that we should have beat the Rams, Cardinals, and Eagles just by being a superior team (3 of the 6 games of the winning streak), however the games against Dallas, NY, and Tampa were against solid teams with records that were superior to ours at the time. I do agree that after Thomas went out things cascaded downhill somewhat on offense, particularly after Brunell strained his knee and continued to play hurt with it. He wasn't the same player after that happened as he was earlier in the season.

We were lucky on the OL in terms of injury, however our defensive line and secondary was nicked quite a bit throughout the season. However as you said, when Thomas went down, then Portis and Brunells play went down considerably when they were playing banged up.

I think we can both agree that its possible for any one of the four NFC East teams to take the division next year. Theres no front runner like there has been in previous years with the Eagles, and that to me makes things twice as exciting. Its simply impossible to forecast who will make the playoffs next year, with the possible exception of the Seahawks (as they play in such an easy division).
