Source: Tom Coughlin informs staff he is out as Giants coach
2:22 PM ET

Tom Coughlin has informed his staff that he is out as the New York Giantscoach, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The Giants are expected to make a formal announcement regarding Coughlin later Monday.

Coughlin met with Giants ownership Monday, one day after New York completed its third consecutive losing season. Coughlin coached the Giants for 12 seasons, leading them to two Super Bowl championships.

He's a very good coach, much like Andy Reid I'm glad he won't be in the division.

This.

Reid and Coughlin are now both gone; hallelujah. You would think it would be an easy run for Garrett (Gruden hasn't proven anything) from here on out.

Complete speculation but wouldn't be surprised to see Sean Payton end up back in NY.

Hear Rumors this morning that SF will look Payton

Coughlin...

Got Jacksonville up and going quickly without a process. Got the Giants 2 SBs. Could actually out gameplan other coaches in big games over the years. Slipped recently but still deserves kudos

only our team accepts mediocrity at the head coaching position. as for Coughlin, great coach, but the writing was on the wall.

Well, he is getting up there in age..... and has been with the Giants for a long time. 2 super bowls. not too shabby. I dont care how bad they were in between. they were pretty bad though....

It was time.

I wouldve loved to have Coughlin coaching Romo/Witten.

Is Eli going to have to learn a new offense at the ripe age of 35?

Glad Coughlin and Reid are out of the division.

Both are guys who were clearly better coaches than Jason Garrett in just about every way you can measure the worth of a coach.

Advantage Cowboys.
