Coughlin coached teams that were anything but all world to the Big One and won twice, beating the favorite and an undefeated powerhouse. The first time I ever cheered with joy for a SB winner other than the Cowboys was the Superbowl where they beat the undefeated Patriots. For one game, I was a Giants fan. Now excuse me while I get sick from the memory.

I have a ton of respect for Coach Coughlin. A disciple of, for my money, the greatest coach to walk a sideline. One of the greats of all time and I hated the day he became the Giants coach. I knew what it meant.

I can just imagine my Giants counterpart writing one of these for our coach the day Jason Garrett decides he's done enough.

From Justin Tuck

As I sit back and reflect on Coach Tom Coughlin, I remember all the one on ones in your office talking football, game plan, etc. I think back to when I was named captain and I used to try and beat you to the facility. I would get there at 6, you where there. I got there at 530 and you were there. 5 am... I knew I would beat you then.. NOPE YOU WERE THERE. I remember feeling the hood of your car and it was cold. Come to find out there were nights you slept in the office. No one worked harder, no one demanded more and I LOVE YOU for it. I chose this picture for one reason and one reason only. Everyone knows you for your dedication to your team and how intense you are on the football field. But I will remember you for helping me become a man and challenging all of us to be better husbands and fathers and men. You did it the right way Coach. And you might be retiring from coaching but I'm sure this isn't a goodbye. That's not in your nature. #halloffame #5minutesearly #areyoush*ttingme

Did John Mara betray Coughlin and force him to resign? That's what I want to know.

Well fans turned on Tom Landry...so yea.

I think fans would be willing to give a coach a chance if they actually saw some improvement.

Landry was an icon. He could have stayed in Dallas for life had he wanted.

You must not remember those last few years. Everybody was turning on him saying the game had passed him by etc. And that was before the internet. It would be worse today. Frankly I agree that after all he did, he should have been allowed to end his time here on his own terms. The fans rallied around him because of the way he got fired.

John Mara betrayed Coughlin. Big time. He shouldn't have been forced out like this.

May Mara's soul burn in hell through eternity along with Roger Goddell. Sons of *******.

God, the fawning over coughlin is nauseating, I'm sure you guys would be thrilled if he was coaching the Cowboys and hadn't made the playoffs in four years with a healthy romo. Jerry would be the idiot for holding on to a dinosaur

The New York Giants will burn and suffer for doing this and treating a living legend of the game this way.

Much the same way the Dallas Cowboys suffered this year after screwing the legendary Monte Kiffin for a clueless shell of a man, Rod Marinelli.

Living in CT and listening to WFAN sports radio, many think OC Ben McAdoo will be the next NYG coach. They are starting to talk about this guy like he's the second coming. I hope he gets the job. The Giants offense since he took it over has been brutal. Eli is not a west coast offense QB. So let's hope they are dumb enough to hire him. Or that Philly will, who is talking to him as well.

It reminds me more of the treatment of Landry. But can't argue the results of the aftermath of the Landry firing.

Eli has had two of his best seasons under the new offense. And that's with OBJ as the teams only weapon on offense that concerns opposing defenses.
