Ed Werder trying to stir up controversy where it doesn't exist with his latest piece on ESPN...just horrible.

I hope the Cowboys score twice as much as we did on Sunday. GO COWBOYS! :starspin

I didn't see the piece...

but I figure, Carson Palmer, the former overall #1 draft pick with no playoff victories would have more to lose.

Or Drew Brees... he of the one playoff victory in his career and 13 and 0 start will have more to lose.

Seriously.. why does Romo have the most to lose?

ESPN has everything to lose if the Cowboys lose.

What will they do for rating for a whole week?

blah........stop letting the media play you.

Because Romo is the QB of the Dallas Cowboys and those other guys aren't. Comes with the territory.

Yea, Werder was basically saying that Peyton and Eli Manning are the only QBs in NFL history to lose their first 2 playoff games and eventually go on to win a SB.

Werder was saying "Romo tries to become Peyton".

Kinda a lame segment, no real controversy he was trying to stir up basically just talking about how "Romo's mistakes" lost the two previous playoff games by showing the fumbled snap and the pick in the zone against the Giants.

Of course Werder didnt show the previous play where a wide open Crayton just stops running at the 5 yard line on what would have been a winning TD. No, it was all Romo's fault.:bang2:

The one thing that amazes me about the critique of Romo is how an undrafted FA gets the pressure that he does. I understand he is the QB for the Dallas Cowboys and it goes with the territory but when I listen to the same critique of Rivers, Rodgers, even Cutler, it seems as though they seem to get a pass and Romo does not.

I love the way Romo has handled everything though, he is a tough kid who let's all these things roll right off his back. He continues to work hard and I saw something in him that showed me he is now ready. When asked about how nervous he is about this playoff game, he immediately smiled and said, "It's all about having fun now, this is what I love about this game. If you don't want to be in these situations, then you don't belong in this league".

Love his response..............;)

I think BSPN has more to lose if the Cowboys win. Tough to look credible when you tell the viewers that the Cowboys suck and will always suck as long as Jerry is the owner, Romo is the QB and Wade is the HC.

To me, this is just Mr. Blue Suit looking for the opportunity that *if* Dallas loses he can just rip into Wade, Jerry and RW for 'letting Romo down.'

I can see that hack's stories from a mile away.

the sports shows on all the channels show his 4th quarter interception against the Giants in the playoffs as if it were some terrible mistake that blew the game. They don't ever bother to mention that it was 4th and 10 with 15 seconds to go and no timeouts.
Whatever suits your needs I guess.

...and I thought that McNabb's career in Philly was all dependent on this game.

I don't think Romo is at that point yet.

To be clear, I was just making fun of you in that last thread, and not concerned about the subject matter of whatever it was at all.

And for future reference since you're new around here, the lmao2 smiley is supposed to reserved for posts that are amusing. There's no harm in using it the way you do, though, too. It makes your posts colorful at least, when people are skimming over the content.

I think the real case is that if Romo wins, Ed Werder has the most to lose. I mean if Romo wins and goes on to become a champion during these playoffs, how will Werder have any stories to report? And if Werder has no stories, how is he going to make any money from his gig? And if Werder doesn't have any money, how will he be able to afford the fine grooming his moustache needs to become the beautiful piece of art you see before you?

So in summary, I think it is Werder's moustache that has the most to lose this coming Sunday.

His point has some validity.
If Romo comes out and stinks it up, the national and local media will absolutely be all over him about choking again.
I think by 'everything to lose' he means the cred ROMO has gained the past 4-6 weeks as stepping up at key times. And really it is the media that will be able to bash him again.

If McNabb stinks it up, it won't be talked about that much.

He is right in that if Romo doesn't get a win here it will be a crazy tough offseason.

The media manufactures the story lines and spins the plot. Tony Romo has the most to lose because they have set him up to be crucified if the Cowboys lose. If they win, the goal posts will be moved and anything less than a SuperBowl will be considered abject failure because this team is too talented to do any less. I'm already hearing it on KTCK that this team should go all the way, as if all these other playoff teams are insignificant bumps in the road.
