Actually, the entire premise of the case is much simpler than that. The balls were tampered with after the official pre-game check. Every single QB analyst has flat out said that there is absolutely NO WAY that the equipment guys would, on their own, alter the state of a football without the QBs knowledge and certain guidance if they wanted to keep their job beyond a week.

To top it off, Tom Brady is jumping the shark like no one's business with this whole thing. I heard a report today that Tom had basically said that he "barely knew" the equipment guys in question. Really, Tom? Umpteen years on the team and you barely know the equipment guys? Come on.
He knew 1 guy and not the other. The one he didn't know what a part-time (gamday only) assistant.

I suppose Brady has to know the parking attendants and ticket takers too?

How was it consistent with precedent? The Vikings-Panthers game had a clear violation of the rules against ball tampering, and they got nothing more than a letter of warning. Brett Favre refused to turn over his phone, and he got a $50k fine (no suspension).

What is the precedent you feel applies?

I didn't read the report. I wouldn't waste my time with it. Just reporting what I heard on the radio. The one violation that they DID parallel the case with was steroid use because PEDs directly affected the competitive balance. First time violators of the PED rule get........................wait for it......................four games suspension.

Brett Favre's transgression had, literally, nothing to do with the integrity of the outcome of the game. It was a personal conduct issue. Not even in the same universe.

The same letter of warning that the Vikings and Panthers got were also sent out to every other team in the league (including the Patriots) warning against tampering with the balls. They'd been forewarned and cheated (again) anyway.

Sorry, but you need to read the actual statement released by the league regarding the suspension being uhelpd:

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-england...on-upholding-tom-bradys-suspension-at-4-games

"...The commissioner found that Brady’s deliberate destruction of potentially relevant evidence went beyond a mere failure to cooperate in the investigation and supported a finding that he had sought to hide evidence of his own participation in the underlying scheme to alter the footballs..."

That's not the entire statement, of course, but you can see by the statement just how much Roger Goodell weighed the destruction of potential evidence on that cell phone. That tells me that had Brady cooperated with the league, he would have not seen a four-game suspension. I'm guessing two at the most, and even possibly no suspension, but a hefty fine.

Yes because parking attendants and ticket takers are in the locker room with you everyday..............................

Yes i had heard that on the radio today. My point was more to the fact that Brady is being punished at all (which is Brady's argument). Not the actual severity. The "non compliance" was a factor in not reducing or eliminating the suspension, rather than whether the punishment should have been meted to begin with. The language being spoken by both sides is telling. First there's a report that Brady rejected a deal that would have lowered the suspension to one game. He refused because the NFL wouldn't seal his records. Then you have Kraft making a statement that reads "we had a deal and I was duped".

Since it's not the Cowboys, the whole thing is a little fascinating, TBH.

NO! Say it aint so, the Pats cheated after being forewarned?

Unfathomable, . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . to quote Mr Krafty!

The Patriots just think they're above the rules. Every other team accepts it's punishment. Kraft just looked pitiful to me yesterday. Oh I was duped. Give me a break.

Um, nobody used PEDs here. Not even in the same universe.
Brett Favre's transgression had, literally, nothing to do with the integrity of the outcome of the game. It was a personal conduct issue. Not even in the same universe.
It was a refusal to cooperate with an NFL investigation. Not only is that the same universe, it's the same country, city, neighborhood and street.
The same letter of warning that the Vikings and Panthers got were also sent out to every other team in the league (including the Patriots) warning against tampering with the balls. They'd been forewarned and cheated (again) anyway.
So I'll take all of the above as a no, you don't have any precedent even remotely comparable to the 2 examples I gave.

McNally was a part-time, gameday only employee. Brady literally saw the guy at most 12 times a year in passing (but probably not even that often). Not "in the locker room every day".

And yet he handled Brady's balls for the games . . . . . .

whuh Whuh huuuuuuunnhnhnh????!?!

Players appeal punishments all the time. I seem to remember a pretty big example of a player on this team appealing, and getting a 60% reduction, of his punishment.

Teams appeal punishments all the time too. The Commanders and Cowboys jointly appealed their salary cap penalties from a few years ago.

And yet didnt fight it tooth and nail even tho they actually did NOTHING wrong. On the other hand, Whiny Krafty & CO are guilty as sin and lie and whine about the penalty they actually earned.

The Patriots didn't even appeal their team penalty, so they certainly didn't fight it "tooth and nail."

Brady, as an individual, isn't doing anything out of line with what we have seen several other players do I recent years.

Care to try again?

What did Mr Whiny Krafty do yesterday? Conceded that he decided to forego his "fight" becuz he thot Tom Brady would get off. Uh, HELLO. Lots of stuff happening man. Did you not see My Krafty make himself look like the back end of a horse yesterday? Admitting that he lied about what he said when he "accepted" his penalty originally. Initially he said its all for the good of the league and its time to move on, bah, blah, blah. yet he admitted yesterday he did it "expecting" his lyin cheatn QB to get off scott free.

We didnt see Jerry or Danny Boy act like entitled lil brats even tho they accepted penalties for doin nothing wrong.

Your heros look worse and worse every day.

still clinging to that? wow you are desperate.

Fact: Brady lied about knowing these guys
Fact: Brady destroyed evidence
Fact: Brady is a cheater.
Fact: The NFL has literally been lying to you since this whole thing started.
Fact: The NFL lied about the ball measurements
Fact: The NFL lied about this being something that just came up during the game
Fact: The NFL lied in their letter to the Patriots about one ball measuring as low as 10.1

Fact: The only proven liars in this whole thing is the NFL. But for some reason, you just keep mindlessly accepting everything they give you.
