Thread Title Should Read:

Even if we lose to the Saints, Cowboys STILL CAN make playoffs.

Absolutely ridiculous to think that this team will probably make the playoffs with another loss. We can, but probably is the wrong word to describe our chances.

I think Adam posted earlier this week that losing to the Saints drops our probability of making the playoffs from 60% right now to 58%. If that's right, then 'probably' is the right word.

Well, bear in mind that if the Eagles supplant the 'Boys as division leaders, 9-7 would be good enough for the wild card spot the Eagles have now. Unless the Giants step up, the Cowboys will probably squeak into that wild card spot. Who else in the NFC besides the Giants/Cowboys has a chance at it?

those of you who feel philly will sit starters against dallas dont understand the rivalry. Philly would love nothing more than to bounce Dallas from making playoffs...they did it last year and are lining up this year. I actually think Dallas has better chance of beating NO than Philly. NO defense is regressing and their running attack is average. If Dallas can get pressure on Brees it will come down to kick at end.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if the Giants win out. Their toughest game, Minn, they very well could be playing against Tavaris Jackson. That is why this weekend game with the Saints is so big. If we win it helps us directly, but indirectly it keeps Minnesota playing in that final week.
I would be because the Giants have won 2 games since October I believe. SO they are going to sweep right through their last 3 games? No. Their defense is giving up almost 30 points a game since October. They have 3 tough games left just as we do. AT Washington will be no easy game, Carolina will definitely play them tough and may win and even if Minn is playing backups they are still capable of beating the Giants. The Giants just haven't played well at all lately and are giving up a lot of points.

I have post this before but we do not get into the playoffs if the giants win their next three games and we only win two of the three. They have the tie breaker over us as does the Packers. If the Giants do not lose to the Commanders this Monday and we lose to the Saints, we fall out of the 6th seed. I can not see the Giants losing to the Panthers or the Vikings when they are not going to play their starters when they already have a seed wrapped up. Go to yahoo nfl playoff simulator and it will tell you every different scenario.

No, its not. And his numbers don't factor in this teams past history.

So we're assuming that THIS TEAM, THIS TEAM OF ALL TEAMS, is going to beat Philly in a do or die game? REALLY?

Jesus Christ people, wake up

My post above doesn't assume that at all. It deals only with statistical probabilities given the remaining schedules of the NFC teams in contention.

But, for the record, I'd like nothing better than a do-or-die game against the Eagles again this year. I'd rather it be in the playoffs, but I'd take one in week 17, too. I think it's really sad that a good fan like you is afraid of one, frankly.

He's more intelligent than afraid, I'd wager.

Well, what if the Steelers beat the Pack? Does this count for anything in the grand scheme of things?

We already beat the Eagles at their place, so why wouldn't we have a chance at our place?

I think beating a team twice in one season is a pretty tough task no matter who you are playing. Aside from that, New Orleans can afford to take it easy while Philly is probably gonna be in position to battle Dallas for a playoff spot.

We beat them in Philly. We don't need to be afraid of them in Dallas.

The statistics don't factor in the Cowboys ability to FUBAR any late season situation, however

And yes, with this team it terrifies me. Right now, it's easy for me to accept a loss against NO because I expect it and have no real hope that this team will do anything of value this season. But as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, if we get into a do or die game I'll get my hopes up, only to have them crushed again by this gutless group.
