According to NFL.com, Benson went to Trinity Valley CC.

My bad on Norman.
I will research that too, and like the Ft. Valley State stuff if I find it is incorrect I will change it. The challenge is he was actually taken in the Supplemental Draft. My guess is that he transferred to Ark. State and then did something wrong and never played for them, but was registered as being from there for his Draft status.

Sorry guys but frankly the record of the SEC with the Boys is not all that good. As regards GREAT players- what, 2 or 3?
I was referring the SEC in the NFL as a whole, not just the Cowboys.

And for the record, I'd say we did pretty well with Jason Witten, Emmitt Smith, Jay Ratliff, Alvin Harper, Herschel Walker, D.D. Lewis, and Leroy Jordan.

Does any conference have more than 2 players in the ROH, like the SEC? I don't know. I do know that we have one guy who's a lock to be the 3rd.

The Pac 10 has Aikman and Renfro.

Texas has both Landry and Schramm.

The former Big 8 had Meredith and Lilly.

As mentioned earlier, the Pac 10 has Aikman and Renfro.

The current Big East has Howley (West Virginia) and Dorsett (Pitt).

The current ACC has Randy White and Irvin.

Dallas has done pretty good w/Hawaii players. Nice to see that in black and white. :D

And very interesting to see how many more productive players from A&M and TCU in comparison to Texas.

I also believe that Pete Hunter was drafted out of Virginia Union. I also think there was another OL drafted out of Elizabeth City, dont' know why but I keep thinking Everett McIver?

Corrections made to Fort Valley State and Darren Benson's college.

Thanks to those who pointed out the errors.

that is offset by the fact that Tex Schramm and Tom Landry were both Longhorns :)

Impressive list, however you missed Nate Newton from Florida A&M. ;)

Nate Newton wasn't drafted by the Cowboys. The thread is called "Every Player Ever Drafted by Dallas".

Actually I didn't because he wasn't drafted by the Cowboys but rather came over from the USFL Tampa Bay Bandits when the USFL waved the white flag and demanded their 3 dollars.

Ennis Haywood, wasn't it? From Iowa State. I actually thought he had something as a player -- I think Parcells would've liked him. Shame when young people die like that... I think it was just a freak thing and not drug-related.

BTW, Hos, isn't the Fort Valley State that gave us Rayfield and Peppi the same school?

yep sure was, thats the same place where greg lloyd the outstanding linebacker that went to the steelers too,

thing i like about nate newton, he originally went to the Commanders camp, then cowboys got him some way, but the Commanders did have him signed as a free agent, thats what i remember, then we got him but Commanders missed out on him, haha

I count 8 players there that really mattered ( and that is giving Spears the benefit of the doubt).. Yeah a whole lot of talent from the SEC.

I guess if you thought the NFL was made up of only 1 team, you may have a point. You'd have to do this for 32 teams to get a handle on that statement.
