nope, sorry.. The key force of 3 Super Bowls, leading the NFL in all-time rushing yards, leading the NFL in all-time rushing touchdowns, 8 Pro Bowls, an NFL MVP, and a Super Bowl MVP makes a pretty good argument for greatest Cowboy ever..

Saints...Archie Manning
nope.. Manning threw 125 TDs and 173 INTs.. Rickey Jackson made 6 Pro Bowls and was the anchor of one of the best defenses of the early nineties.. and was the best player on the Saints' best teams they ever had..

thats the truth.. and Lilly was Emmitt's closest competition..

nope.. Brooks was the other consideration.. this one was close.. but Selmon is the only current Bucs Hall of Famer.. what gave him the nod was that the Bucs teams when Selmon before he got there were HORRIBLE.. he was the only good player, and he completely dominated and actually made them competitive and was the driving force behind their first winning season and playoff years.. Brooks was a part of a very dominant defense loaded with talent (although he was the best)..

I think Emmitt, Lilly, and Roger are all equal .....

The only true person who represents the Cowboys more than anyone is

TOM LAUNDRY.

He will forever be the face of the Boys.

you are right, stats aren't everything.. but they are a big part of it.. the thing is, the Cowboys' best teams were in the 90s, not the 70s.. Staubach won two Super Bowls, Emmitt won three.. those 70s teams would not have won without Staubach, and the 90s teams would not have won without Emmitt.. Emmitt was the most important player of those 90s teams.. so Emmitt, with the stats and the Super Bowls, gets the nod..

You say Brooks was part of a Dominate D..... Emmitt was part of a great TEAM. Better overall teams than Roger had that's for sure.

I had them ranked:
1. Emmitt
2. Lilly
3. Staubach
4. Randy White
5. Tony Dorsett
6. Larry Allen
7. Deion Sanders

those are the only ones I considered.. sorry to Renfro, Irvin, etc.. the Cowboys really did have a lot to choose from..

and i will agree with you about Landry..

I would argue its different for an offense and a defense.. I would argue that Brooks' Bucs teams still would have been great without Brooks (although he is incredible).. the Cowboys would not have won without Emmitt or without Staubach.. a RB and a QB make more of a difference than a LB does.. but Selmon put that team on his back and made that defense good.. Brooks was a piece of a puzzle.. Emmitt and Staubach were more than pieces of a puzzle..

HAHA!! did i EVER say that Roger was a pushover?? NO!! I had to pick ONE single player from each team! I showed you that I had Staubach ranked as the THIRD best Cowboy ever.. and as impressive as Staubach's numbers are, Emmitt's are far more impressive.. Im not cutting down Roger by pumping up Emmitt!
