who are you trading?

who are you trading?
I don’t necessarily have specific players in mind. If I were running the team I would let other teams know we were open to trading players. If nothing came of it then no big deal. My main point is that we shouldn’t be making deals to acquire players because this current team is going nowhere. We are too many players away from competing for the ultimate prize. Keep our draft picks to acquire players that our new 2025 Head Coach might want. Why try to acquire players that fit what McCarthy or Zimmer may want?

Good players are needed. If we can get one cheap do it. BLUNTLY SPEAKING if we use a fifth to get a guy who can help the team in the future do it. How many fifth rd picks ever really do much?

If you are getting a good player for only a late pick (like a 5th round pick) before the trade deadline it is usually due to the player being on the last year of their contract, or the player has a costly contract going forward, or the player is older and on the downside of their career.. Trading for a player on the last year of his contract only makes sense if you feel that player can help you reach your goals this season because that player will be a free agent at the end of the year. Trading for a player that has a costly contract next year and beyond won't happen with Stephen and Jerry running the show. Especially when we are sitting at 3-4 and most likely not making the playoffs. Teams that tend to make deals to acquire players prior to the trade deadline tend to be teams that are trying to reach their goals in the current year.

Name a good player that is available for a 5th round pick that is under a cheap contract going forward and is not old. Deanadre Hopkins was traded because he is old and on the last year of his contract. Amari Cooper is older and on the last year of his contract. Diontae Johnson is on the last year of his contract. Davante Adams is old and has a contract for $35.6 million in 2025 and 2026. Josh Uche was traded but is also in the last year of his contract. Ernest Jones was traded but he is also in the last year of his contract.

I would settle for a good rotational guy.

If we don't do any trades, this team should make some changes to players who start. You have a weakness in many areas but there are some things that can be done. I think donovan wilson is good against the run but as the ball hawk or defender he cannot cover. Hooker is not fast and out of position to make plays. Steele is just bad, move Guyton over there and slide Smith back to left and put Bass at left guard. Try Flournoy over Brooks, guy is forever falling down.
This team was done before the season. If anything, they should trade away for draft picks.
