It's not that he's a bust, Jerry just thought it was wise to allow him time to develop behind a proven veteran during his rookie year.

I know that once Ellis returned the story became about his comeback from the injury, but prior to his return I was really pleased with Spencer, especially the first game of the season against the Giants when he got nice pressure on Eli including when he threw Eli down.

I like Spencer and think he will adapt to OLB but I was glad Ellis was able to comeback so that the team did not have to fully depend on Spencer

I never had the expectations on him I had on Ware, so he's doing just fine as far as Im concerned for where he's at. The biggest pleasant surprise for me from that draft though is Canty. Bill's time here was all about that draft imo. His best ever if you ask me, and still only getting better with time.

Heck, in Spencer's first game ever as a pro, he sacked the super bowl MVP on a two point conversion.

Seriously, I think he's going to be a heck of an OLB for us. He's got a great first step and his hands are inordinately strong... once he gets a hold on the ballcarrier, that guy is going down.

Yeah, he should. I mean, "non-blocking" TE, Kevin boss was handling Ellis in the running game in the divisional playoff loss. I would have loved to see Spencer more, as Ellis may have been wearing down at the end of last season.

i was happy with what he showed. he sure showed a lot more than the last lb we drafted. i like the fact that when he gets to the qb he trys to break them in half. I hope he starts next year and have ellis come in on 3rd downs or obvious passing situations just to pass rush.

Count me in as a Spencer lover. The kid learned a new position on the fly in the first part of the season and did a great job. Also, I liked seeing him and Ellis together on the same side on some of those packages that the Boys had used in the Green Bay game. Hopefully this year, the roles will be reversed.

Yes, very happy. He is a natural pass rusher and a year in an NFL weight program and more reps on field I can see him being a 10 sack Edge guy.
