You can have Pete Carrol. Yes he is doing a great job at USC, but he also has the most talent in the country on his team.

Yes, Feinstein. Washington Post writer for many years with stops at SI and National Sports Daily. NPR commentator extraordinaire. East Coast flavor indeed.

All success stories have their dark sides, so it's no surprise Jones' contemporaries don't shower much praise on him. And I'm not a huge fan myself. To win, others have to lose. Imagine Bum Bright instead of Jones. Where would this organization be now? They can't all be Clint Murchison.

What you don't mention is that the book is primarily about the Ravens. Apparently Feinstein didn't feel comfortable writing about a team until Biscotti gave him virtually full access to the organization. If his portrayal of their management is neutral, small wonder. It's his neck of the woods.

But time permitting I'll see for myself what I think of it. I find his on-air style on the Sports Reporters a bit grating, however.

Links aren't that hard. :D

Dude whatever. Did you really need me to put the link up of the book....

Good grief.

The Cowboys are probably in the top five when it comes to franchises in all of sports and I realize that this is a Cowboys' board but the homerism here is ridiculous.

The Yankees are a much more storied franchise, and on an international scale, the Cowboys pale in comparision to ManU.

fortunately for me, i am an American - and i watch real football... American style.

soccer is a great sport for little kids not big enough for the contact required. heck, it wouldn't surprise me if cricket is more popular abroad. but i don't care too much for what the rest of the worlds sports preferences are. i just chalk it up to they don't really have people who can play it - hence they don't get it.

if the athletes playing pro basketball and football in our country had devoted their adolescence to soccer - the US would be smoking EVERYBODY at the World Cup. they'd freak just looking at the kinda physical talent we could field.

so let them call it football. we know it ain't no such thing.

Didn't you recently claim Parcells just came here for the money and didn't care about winning? If ever there were a more asinine statement, I have yet to see it. If that were true he woulda stuck around and collected that last 5.5 million.

Completely offtopic, but it proves you are way too biased to have any credibility. You're no different than a homer, you're just on the other end of the spectrum.

This job used to be prestigious. Now that Jerry is a meddling owner/GM with no clue, and the new head coach will have to put up with the worst locker room cancer in all of sports, it's lost some luster. They were dogging this job on Sirius Radio all afternoon for these reasons.

Call it bias, call it what you will, but this was told to me by a person pretty close to Parcells. The passion was gone but the need for money wasn't.

Do you really think that this Parcells was the same Parcells as his previous coaching stints? If not, why not?

Why do you think that the only way Parcells would come back last year was at an increase salary?

As far as skipping out on a handsome 2007 salary, he doesn't "need" the money any longer. He did when he signed on.
