I will not drink the company kool-aid until we actually have results (no, one playoff appearance and no playoff wins in 10 years is not results). I will continue to listen to what Jerry and the braintrust have to say with skeptisicm. Doubting the ability of a one AdamJ13 (aka the smartest man alive outside of Stephen Hawking), blasphemy pure and simple. That kind of talk will get you a public stoning.

not sure i wanna cannonize adamjt just yet, but i do agree on not drinking the kool aid till we're given more than hope and promises.

For everyone saying Jason who? to the Cowboys 3rd round pick, it's time for you to do some study on the guy. I didn't have any film on him, but I was greatly impressed with him at the combine and given his size, thought he'd be a good DE in a 3-4 which made me grade him as a possible 3rd round pick. The Cowboys got equal value for him in my opinion. He wasn't a reach and he wasn't a steal either. He was a dominant D-IAA player with 71 tackles, 21.5 TFL, and 11 sacks last season. He's more quick than fast as well and looked very good in agility drills at the combine. He will need to be coached up some on his technique, but he's got a lot of potential and one position I trust Parcells' judgement on is DE. Look at all the great ones he's drafted including Richard Seymour. He drafted two very promising DEs in Canty and Spears last season too. I think Hatcher will be rotating Canty on WLE while Ellis and Spears continue to alternate at SDE.

no - the problem is when *we* (the less than happy) voice our opinion, we're reduced to "you don't know what they know!!!!" crap by fans who can't arugue for the pick on their own, so they have to claim ignorance as a wonderful thing and blindly follow the man waving the magic wand.

look people - this is a message board. of which people will agree, disagree, and argue from time time as well. we're *ALL* fans (with the rare exception of a few gifted posters) and as such gather here to talk about the good and the bad. where we agree and the long theads are usually where we don't.

this isn't some 'happyland' where we all sing kumbaya and blindly praise the management for knowing so much of what they're doing. this is the real world where football has a lot of attention and people with passionate ideas about how it should be played.

THAT is the fun of being a "lowly fan".

if your best answer is "trust in bill" fine, you do that. YOU do that. those of us who don't trust and want to discuss what's up and so forth will.

you wanna wear your 'boys underoos and blindly support "the management" you do that. but it gets real old for you and others to expect all fans to do the same. even older for the "blind homers" to call those who do disagree rather vocally 'stupid fans'.

as for "those who do this for a living" - great. but that doesn't make them infallible of we'd have a 32-way tie for the superbowl, wouldn't we? some are better than others, and some just suck. we've had some bad ones too and only time will tell if this is more bad, or really the way back up.

let's let time call people fools, ok? not each other.

Jerry, you always say things so elequently. :)

I'll continue to question "the man" as long as I find what he's doing questionable. If I agree with him, I'll state it ... if not, I'll state it as well.

For those who disagree with me and want me to shut up, don't forget, this is a fan opinion forum. All of the best writers here have differing opinions ... that's why it's the only place I hang out on the Net.

I praised management for doing a good job in last year's draft. In the same vein, I'm questioning this year's draft because I'm unclear on the direction the team wants to go.

I DO NOT listen to Jerry Jones when he tries to justify any of his decisions.

But in all, we may have gotten some decent players yesterday. Not sure we're sending any of them to the Pro Bowl. Not sure any of them will make a difference in getting us over the playoff hump.

Shutup!!! j/k.

After the aftershock it appears that calmer heads are prevailing. A lot of the leapers are now looking and are discovering that things aren't so bad after all and in the long run could be very good.

I agree Jerry doesn't have the best track record for explaining draft day decisions. Case in point when he stated we took Quincy Carter in the second round because we wanted to have him to a longer contract than a later round draft pic would have while mentioning nothing about his actual talent as a reason for blowing a 2nd round pic on him.

You cant really blame fans for their reactions on pics like this.
The draft has become as important and popular as any major sporting event, and expectations seem to be more name related based on familiarity.
Players that fans have heard of through the media, they can identify with them because of this familiarity aspect.
When a guy like Hatchers' name is called for our 3rd round selection,, thats right out of left field, very few even know of him, and the negative reaction ensues.
People want to hear a Ko Simpson, or Max Jean Giles,, a familiar name, not necessarily a better player.

Excellent observation/post.
