As bad as Wilcox is in coverage, he's even worse at tackling. He is not SS material IMO.

It seems he wants to make a big hit rather than a wrap up tackle. Church has even got that way too.
What happened to just the wrap up tackle....

What do you think about Heath at SS? He can definitely tackle, coverage is abysmal, though. Hopefully, Frazier can play. Looks like Church with better coverage skills.

Wonder what position they will put him at next year while claiming they always saw him there.

Will want to see Heath at a true SS position first. They play up in the box more than relied upon coverage from what I understand in rod's scheme. I could be mistaken. From this was from what Stephen Jones and Jason had said more than once after they drafted Jones. As if he would end up at FS over CB.

So I will wait and see for any SS candidate on the roster in TC to see what each player can do.

So what, you keep him as a slot corner or lined up as a LB?

I don't know what I would do with him. He doesn't seem to play all that well in space. He's best when he can line up 1 on 1 and play tight. His best quality last year was his tight end coverage, and almost no defensive schemes will have him playing coverage against a tight end from the free safety spot.

Taking the wait and see approach. Hate his awareness while the ball is in the air and don't think he'll ever become a ball hawk because of this. But we'll see once he plays his natural position regularly.

I think there is lots of anointing going on really early for a player who really hasn't proven a lot yet.

It is not "anointing", it is based on many things from what the person in the know say and think. We as fans take that and go with the proven track records he will help. Well most fans any way. Not the constant negative ones.

All he needed to prove to me is that he could cover Gronk one on one and keep him under 50 yards. He did it. An entire game. I'm good.

Yes, because people who are excited to see a guy play are 'anointing.'

I don't see much anointing, but I do see some annoying.

My hope is Frazier will end up replacing Heath - next year. And become the FS backup/ special teams guy. We will need to draft a SS next year.

You could use him as a 4th corner in a dime look and bring in someone at FS. It's a question if the 4th corner is better than your 2nd FS.

Is also a counter to the article posted yesterday about the trips Y-islo. You match your corners on the Wrs, match Jones on the TE alone and let the SS play center field.

In almost every scheme, the free safety would play center field.
