Madden sucks, by I have no choice but to buy it. Every year they say it'll be the best football game ever and every year they fail. Franchise needs a whole lot of work.

They are averaging 3.3 million copies sold per year, since 1988.

Up to August of 2008 they were they had the #4 most sold video game behind, GTA, Metal Gear Solid & Call of Duty.

How are they going downhill?

The game itself has gone downhill. People will buy the game every year just because it's Madden. Game play wise, Madden is terrible in terms of sim game play.

The sim freaking blows, you are 100% correct on that. It gives outrageous numbers if you sim a whole season.

For example, I used to just sim the regular season and then play the playoff games. I had LT as my running back and he was getting over 200 yards every freaking game!!!!

He ended the year with like 3500 rushing yards and 50+ TDs............just crazy!!!!

I'm not talking about simulating the game, I'm talking about sim gameplay which basically is trying to play the game like it's done in real life. (Punting on 4th, not abusing money plays, etc.)

In Madden you can drop back 20 yards and throw 80 yard bombs like it's nothing. That's lame.

Trading players, signing free agents, scouting, the draft, managing the salary cap, ect......is the main things I enjoy, building the team.

Madden on 360 centers more around the actual playing of the games (almost arcade-style) and really doesnt do much in terms of franchise building.


That is why I said Madden sucks on the 360, I have never played on Playstation or online so I cant attest to their style.

True. But if most teams went for it on 4th & 1, they would make it a lot too. Its not the game's fault for that, NFL coaches just value field position a lot more than Madden coaches haha. It's just a game.

For the abusing money plays part, I agree but again this is the other player's fault for not stopping it.

And finally, for the 80 yard bomb part, the whole idea is to force you to control a defensive back yourself, dont let the computer do it, if you take control and go up to tip it, pretty much all the time the defensive player will succeed.

No video game is going to be EXACTLY like real life, thats why it is a video game.

Gotcha. What mode are you playing on? I can guarantee you LT wouldnt get 200+ yards and 50+ TDs if you are playing on All-Madden.

I haven't played Madden in 3-4 years, but I have recently become re-addicted to NCAA 09.



The madden team does the absolute BARE MINIMUM (if that) to improve teh game, so I finally got sick of it and stopped giving them my money.



From a business standpoint I don't blame them though, they know they'll sell a million + copies w/o having to actually put resources into making the game as good as it should/could be.

I am sick of wasting money on a POS game. Clearly the lack of competition has killed Madden because EA is too lazy. I never liked NFL 2k but at-least it kept them on their toes. The franchise mode has been a joke since it left the OG Xbox.

NCAA > Madden. By far.


I think Madden sells better (I assume) cuz more people are fans of Pro Football then they are of College football. That's the way it is with me, but I prefer NCAA anyway cuz it's simply a much better game.

I hope they improve the Franchise mode. Madden 09 is good on the PS3 if you want to play the game str8 up, but the franchise is horrible. For that, I play Madden 07 on my PS2.

I love how on this years madden you can have 3 steps on a receiver try to throw it deep and the quarterback NEVER leads the receiver.

Uhhh I haven't had any problems with that. All you have to do is use the directional buttons to put the ball where you want. Up to lead/high, down to throw short/low, right for right, left for left.
