Again, if it's a 12-4 offense, why could it do diddly poo against the Broncos? I'm not saying we should have put up 50 on them, I'm saying why is this dynamic, great offense only putting up 7 meaningful points?

That Denver game showed an all-around bad team - not just a bad defense. The offense was simply terrible. We got beat every way, and frankly, it didn't look great against the Giants and most of the Cardinals game either.

The offense isn't the problem here. We're averaging 29 points per game the last 3. Most teams scoring that much wouldn't go 1-2 in that stretch.

Who's next on the schedule? Is it somebody we can beat?

49ers.

They aren't winning games. But they are scoring lots of points. Their offense is moving the ball.

So they could be big trouble.

We played the Cardinals, Rams, and Packers the last 3 games.

Detroit put up 35 and Philly put up 34 on their D. The went up against the Colts and 49ers in their other games. The Rams, the week before playing us, Hoyer put up 332 yards passing, averaged 9 yards a pass, and had 2 TDs.

I'm not impressed with who our offense has tore up - I'm more worried about how they performed against the two good defenses they faced. Against the Giants, they scored one TD and against the Broncos it would have been 0 if it wasn't for the turnover in the Broncos territory.

This offense needs to be questioned.

Again, when we faced GOOD DEFENSES, how many points did we put up? If we have such a good offense, why is it that we couldn't put up more than 7 meaningful points on the Broncos? Why couldn't we get more than a TD on the Giants?
I'm not sure I understand the question, or more to the point, your reasoning behind the question.

And Atlanta lost to Buffalo. At home. It happens. It's the NFL.

The offense was good enough to win 4 games. But 2 of those games were blown by the defense.

End of story.

I'm not just looking at the L, I'm looking at the performance.

And Buffalo also put up good numbers against the Broncos D while we struggled to ever get into their territory.

We may not be as well equipped as many here think we are to face good defenses. Someone said we have a 12-4 offense, I don't expect a 12-4 offense to struggle as badly as they have in games against good defense.

I'm not clear on when you get beat and you say we got out coached, that is an excuse.
That is a reason in my mind. Or their a better team. That is a reason.

Well, calling 12 & 4 now might be a bit ambitious, but offense is only one part of a 3 part show, so saying one side of the ball will decide the win-loss ratio seems a bit short-sited; which by extension calls in to question the Cowboys fan you quoted. Why does this person's opinion matter and, more importantly, should it matter?

The Cowboys defense was more responsible for the last two games in consideration of what the Cowboys did score. If the Cowboys can be more consistent with what they've flashed as far as passrush, and the offense can maintain or improve, this team will be scary.

That said, I'm realistic enough to see the flip side conclusion that involves a complete team meltdown; I've been a Cowboys fan since the 80's, so nothing would surprise me. At the end of the day, it ain't that serious.

Disclaimer aside, I think this team is on the verge of putting it together all at the same time very soon.

And some here were saying how dumb it is to rid of that many veteran players in a single offseason, and we got the argument they were all JAGs.

This organization took a 13-3 team and instead of making some defensive upgrades to get us over the hump, gutted the secondary, let a key piece of the DLine rotation go and banked on a late 1st round rookie and a journeyman guy about to get to suspended to improve our pass rush. These are moves a team in rebuild mode makes, not one that has the #1 seed in their conference the year before.

Meanwhile, on offense they are so wedded to the brilliance of their La'el Collins signing that they hand him a starting job, alienating a key component of the OLine they never had any intentions of trying to resign anyway. They make no effort to improve team speed; their only move of significance being to sign a smurf WR, whose skill set is somewhere between Beasley and Whitehead (players already on the team). Obviously someone had to replace Free, but the Collins move is looking more and more meh each week, not to mention the gaping hole we have at LG.

So they go radical reconstruction mode on defense (although somehow Wilber still has a job here), while they thought the offense was pretty much set and low and behold we have lost as many games by week 5 as we did all of last year.
