Expect to see a lot of shotgun

Dak seems most comfortable throwing from the shotgun. And that's also the formation that you run the read option from. I expect to see a lot of that formation and read option play action. Read option motion has added benefit of slowing down the pass rush because DE's have to stay home at first. Giants probably have to completely redo their defensive game plan, and don't have much tape on Dak, so that's a small silver lining.

He did take some snaps from under center in preseason, and did well in those situations. I do agree though that we will see lots more shotgun in week 1.

I dont know, but our strength is the running game. I dont think were in the shotgun as much as you think.

Then we better plan on keeping Zeke back for hand offs because we need to run the ball. We have to run the ball, early and often.

As mentioned, I really don't think there will be that much more shotgun than usual.

I think it's shotgun and read option look that is the wrinkle we'll see a lot of. Like the poster said about RGIII in his first year. Was unstoppable and simple reads for the QB.

Hopefully, we'll switch on and off of the shotgun enough in various situations to keep defenses off guard, lest we get too predictable.

I don't think they will change the playbook all that much. They will change a few things, obviously remove what is for Tony, but then again, why couldn't Dak do some of them too. Then they can add Dak packages though.
Dak needs that experiences of reading defenses in the NFL, blitz packages and such. Know when to audible. And we need to see if he has that natural ability to avoid pressure.

Great! Romo should live there as well for the rest of his career!

Wouldn't matter because he still won't throw the ball away and will continue to get crushed. The fact he just can't throw it away will end his career prematurely. I've said that for years. It's similar to RG3 not knowing when to slide or how to do it well. Some guys have the knack...some don't.

All of Dak's passes in the preseason was either from shotgun or PA, can he drop back from under center and pass at all at this point?
It's crucial that he gets comfortable doing it as fast as possible cause we would be gimping our running game by being in shotgun to much

I think the Cowboys were over 80% passing when in the shotgun with Romo and over 80% run when Romo was under Center.

Can't wait to see Dak use his arm going deep to the speedy recievers we have. Dez, TWill, Beasley, Butler, Whitehead.

Dak's play action game is pretty damned solid. I wouldn't expect any more shotgun than we've ever seen with this team and we run it quite a bit in "normal" situations. For a rookie, I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how well he executes the play action. It takes a set of balls to turn your back to a defense and try to simulate a believable hand off and then turn to read a defensive coverage. There are vet QBs who still don't do it worth a crap. The kid will be fine. We just have keep things simple for him.

What the hell does it matter that his under center passes were PA? He still has to go through his progressions
