Expect to see a lot of shotgun

Don't think so, Dak throws a nice deep ball. So it's up to the WR's to do their jobs and get up the field if the play calls for it.
You can do both really.

I expect the passing game to be conservative, but with some shots downfield when teams try to stack the box.

I know college and pro game are apples and oranges, but I wonder if we see a similar gameplan that OSU used on their title run. Pound the ball with the run game, and copy the game that Cardale ran during that run. Safe short passes, but also looking deep on one one one matchups. You would think a run game would give him time to go deep on play action passes.

Maybe if he plays 5-6 games you can limit the complicated reads he needs to do being so young to the NFL game?

All of Dak's passes in the preseason was either from shotgun or PA, can he drop back from under center and pass at all at this point?
It's crucial that he gets comfortable doing it as fast as possible cause we would be gimping our running game by being in shotgun to much
That's not even remotely true.

But they where not running nearly as much put of shotgun after the zone read gimmick stopped being effective
And wasnt a big reason the zone read became less effective was because once Bob wrecked his knee and wasnt nearly the running threat, they discovered wasnt the most accurate passer in the world either?

I wish they would dust off the old Landry shotgun play of the Shovel pass to the running back. The shovel pass from Staubach to Preston was an awesome play in 1975! -- I know . . . . :( I am too old!

QB doesn't need to be under center for the running game to be effective. I've already mentioned how well Alfred Morris did in DC. Frank Gore also ran for 1200+ yards 3 years in a row in SF in a pistol/shotgun heavy offense.

That was the idea already even before Romo got hurt. It's what we did a couple years ago.

Dak seems most comfortable throwing from the shotgun. And that's also the formation that you run the read option from. I expect to see a lot of that formation and read option play action. Read option motion has added benefit of slowing down the pass rush because DE's have to stay home at first. Giants probably have to completely redo their defensive game plan, and don't have much tape on Dak, so that's a small silver lining.

Good point. That in mind of course Dallas would want to make NY believe Romo has a shot. The less they can focus on Dak the better.

In a gimmicky offense the league figured out a season later

How much of that was also rg3 not being right physically and also being too cocky to work on improving instead of blaming everyone else for his failures?

Wasn't it part of the reason (also dui charge) that Dak wasn't under center much in college that gave scouts or teams pause about selecting him? I thought I heard this on 105.3 the fan. I'm still Confused why that would even matter. There are a bunch of college teams using option read offenses instead of protection style (which dak played under) but teams still select QB'S with this in mind.

Wouldn't u want a QB who is used to provide style? Very rare in college.
