Expectations have turned into a train wreck

The greatest problem was the expectations.

The problem is not the absense of Romo and Bryant.

The Cowboys barely beat the Giants in game #1, winning by one point.

The offense only scored 6 points in the first three and a half quarters in game #2.

They were playing no better with Romo and Bryant than they were without them.

This season ended the day Jerry Jones offered DeMarco Murray an insult of a contract offer.

This offensive line is not the same without Murray. He is not the same without them. But together they were both the best in the league. It's absolutely tragic that anyone could believe Jerry Jones when he said this offense didn't need Murray, they had Randle.

This was the same guy who thought the Cowboys didn't need Emmitt Smith in 1993 because they had Derrick Classic. They went 0-2 without him. Had free agency existed at the time, the Cowboys total number of Super Bowls in the 90's would have been 1.

We now reach a point where the Cowboys need a running back and a new franchise quarterback. Injuries did not destroy this team, it was poor management.

This is now the 3rd time a good team was built with exciting potential, and the 3rd time Jerry Jones has wasted no time in utterly destroying it. Jason Garrett will be the scapegoat this time but nobody...NOBODY...can win with this GM.

The most tragic part of this sad era in Cowboy history is that there is only one way in which the GM will be replaced.

We've all seen the games. We don't have a quarterback who can play. Some of the games, we haven't had a DL out there that could manage lane control. We lose the field position battle because we can't block in the return game, and we give up key returns for touchdowns. And with all that, we've been in almost every game, taking one to overtime and losing several on the bounce of a ball or a single play. Understanding what's going on is what the reasonable perspective is. Just looking at a random 5 game stretch and concluding the team ought to have won one of them is a superficial 'examination' at best. Blaming coaches when you've seen the players on the field and ought to know exactly what the limitations have been makes no sense.

Thank you for making my point...............the QB position was botched from the very beginning. For Garrett to not bring in a competent backup QB who could actually play the game for a SB contending team is just beyond incompetent.

Here is a hint:

Look at the QB position. That drives everything in this league.

Funny how other teams trot out backup QBs and still win.........................in fact, what is Garrett's record against other teams with backups, like 2-12?

Colt McCoy ring a bell?

If it wasn't for the injuries I think that would be probably be proven true. Unfortunately this season is probably wasted and we'll have to find out next year if that's true or not. Probably another wasted year.

Nobody has thought we had an adequate backup since Orton threw his tantrum. And then we talk about it, and everybody says they needed to bring in an adequate replacement, and then we ask 'who' and then everybody shuts up again until the next time the point gets raised as if we don't all remember going round and round on this the last time.

Meanwhile, the fact remains there aren't enough capable starters to go round in this league, much less backups to step in when you lose one of the really good ones. Add in the loss of an all pro player or two and multiple other starters or contributors on both sides of the ball, and eventually you get enough attrition that even the densest fans say 'hey, it's getting tough to just coach 'em up all of a sudden.'

Just kidding about the fans part. They still think the issue is coaching for some reason, but you get my point.
