Well I'm not exactly looking forward to getting older in general and I'm probably about 40 years younger than the people you're talking about here, but I fail to see the negative in what you've described. Sounds like fun.

Now get off my lawn!
Hahaha, nice!

I get your point, but at year 8 Emmitt still produced 5 straight seasons of 1000 or more yards. Elliott can no longer produce at the same or near same level he once was.
Emmitt was an outlier. His combination of ability, instincts, tremendous supporting cast, incredible genetics and, let’s be real, luck, all created a perfect storm.

Unlikely the NFL ever sees it again and holding anyone to that standard is simply unfair.

I could see the Broncos maybe showing interest. his landing spot will be dependent on the draft obviously at this point so we’ll see when things pick back up after the draft.
Seattle needs all the RB help they can get. There could be a platoon role there for him

Agreed and Zeke cannot manage that feat at this stage.
I imagine he could if he was a starter in an offense that values the running game.

Not saying that’s easy or even a common set of circumstances, but there is a window of opportunity there if the stars aligned.

Never said it was "league enforced". You went out of your mind about it..made up some BS and believed it.

Go back and look....I never said the league made it happen by force. Check the definition I showed you.
Well then why is there this (imaginary) lull? What's keeping teams from signing Zeke?

Steve, you're embarrassing yourself. Zeke still being a free agent means no team will even come close to his asking price and he will remain free until he humbles himself and accepts a cheap deal.

Emmitt played when he was no longer any good, and most teams have more sense than to allow that..so it's very likely that record will never be broken.

Emmitt's training and workout regimen > Zeke's

Sorry but this was never the case. Emmitt was "good" every time he stepped on the field. As he got older though he simply was no longer "great" which is what he was up until about 2001 or 2002. If I'm not mistaken he ran for over 100 yards the day he broke the rushing record. At age 33. Those teams from that time frame were bad. And Emmitt was no longer good enough to put them on his back.. But "no longer any good?" Sorry that's just not accurate by a long shot.

I kinda feel bad for Zeke, sometimes it can be hard when reality kicks you in the nuts.

Zeke is going to have to face reality and make a choice.

Either sign for vet min or close to it and play a backup role or if your pride or ego cannot handle that..........retire.

Those are really the only two options available to Zeke if we are being totally honest here.

Zeke is like the has-been released by other teams and we at the CZ Exclaim, "Let's have a look at him!" :muttley:

1 - I don’t think he got fat and lazy, he wore out the way the 99% of RBs not named Emmitt Smith and Frank Gore generally do. He still put in an enormous amount of work.

2 - his fumbles didn’t increase at all
A few things give me pause about the worn out theory. The timing, and his age. Right after he signed that extension he wasn't the same player. At age 23. I think there is more to it than just being worn out.

One of the most flabbergasting things I heard him say last season when he started off well (before the pcl tear), faster than before, was him saying he finally started eating better. Really? Even after 10s of millions of dollars, you couldn't eat better beforehand? You had to wait until you were visibly slowing down?

Its not unique to him. Lots of these guys are pure athletes and they don't train very hard to get to their optimal play weight, but that catches up with them the older they get, or with how bad their diet is. I remember Dwight Howard being almost diabetic because his daily intake was just skittles and junk food until he hired a trainer that told him how much difference diet makes. This was like 10 years into his career.

I lean towards body maintenance as well. I remember being a little slower at 25 than I was when I was younger. And I wasn't playing tackle football my entire life. It would take more work for him to stay at the top of his game.

At this point, we get your view.

-You agree with Emmitt when he said he was a "diamond surrounded by trash"
-Kellen Moore ruined Zeke's career, probably deliberately
-The next world leader should be a former running back

Zeke never did anything to deserve such harsh criticism. He wore the Star on his helmet with pride and gave it his all every game for the past 7 seasons. Yes, it was time to part ways with Zeke, especially because of his way overpaid contract, but he deserves respect, appreciation, thanks and a farewell from Cowboys fans.
You know I don’t agree with you. Never should have be resigned. Huge mistake. He also didn’t keep himself in shape early in his career and it cost him and the team. Was selfish about Carries pollards first 3 years.

didn’t like the player or the man from what we saw of him. Immature pink drunk entitled. That’s my take.
