FEATURED FA agent thread

We should be very excited about Neal. He's young and smart, makes plays, is fundamentally sound..gets dudes lined up so they can at least be in position to make a tackle. In ATL they had little in front of him. He didnt get much help. He was on an island surrounded by trash lol.

Then he should be very comfortable in the Cowboys defense. :muttley:

My only concern is that he's missed almost two entire seasons of his five-year career due to injury - an ACL then an Achilles. At least he stayed healthy last season.

Canady is the player that was signed that sat out last season. Based on his stats and performance previously he's nothing more then a depth and special teams corner. He could surprise and does have starting experience but signing a vet corner should be a priority this off season. There are some vets that would be good to great additions that still remain on the market:

Sherman
Bouye
Hayward
Butler
Breeland
Dunbar
Burns
He graded out very high by pff, I just don't think he's ever been given a shot at starting.

I hope his grading in pff is true to what he performs. Would be a big boost.

Could be the reason why we let Awuzie walk and signed Lewis instead at the lower cost. Combination of Diggs, drafted CB, Lewis, Brown and Canady could be solid. Lets hope so.

When you look at the big picture of the entire DB room, you have several vets in there, Brown, Lewis, Neal, Canady, and if they sign one or both of the FS that are visiting, that's 1 or 2 more to go along with Diggs, Robinson and a rookie or two DB that will be drafted. Not sure what someone like Sherman would bring that is not already here. I think they will sign at least 1 of the FS coming in (maybe both), and a LB and call it a FA period for now and move on to the draft.

I think they re-sign Looney soon

I agree but with the Farley surgery. He's the one I wanted at 10 and the Cowboys as well. Not sure it would be a wise pick now. So if we are going to bypass CB at 10, i think we should safe guard against that and sign one more vet.

Hyder might be worth another bring back. They must really think Basham has potential as a DE as they could have waited and still found some decent back up edge types.

Interesting how Hyder didnt work under Marinelli but went to SF and was on fire.

Defense to me is all about schemes and what works best for the player and his strengths. This is where I think the Cowboys have missed the boat on their FA signings. Hyder wasnt a big signing for SF. Alot like our signings along the DL this FA period. But SF saw qualities in Hyder that fit their scheme and utilized his strengths.

Marinelli was not good at buying the groceries.

is Kerrigan washed up? i would love to have him as a backup.

Dude is all motor. Not a starter anymore— but rotational for a decent price? I would love it. That said— we already brought in Basham so I doubt Kerrigan gets a look
