On a unrelated note somewhat.....why do you guys think Quinn didn't work out in Atlanta? Had a great offense...personnel wise.....seems like the defenses always struggled though at the tail end.
Because the GM sucked at drafting defense. Sound familiar? lolOn a unrelated note somewhat.....why do you guys think Quinn didn't work out in Atlanta? Had a great offense...personnel wise.....seems like the defenses always struggled though at the tail end.
Well lol......that was sort of what I thought as well but I didnt' follow them enough. I just look at Quinn having to win with a inferior defense....and he's about to be in that same battle now....smh.Because the GM sucked at drafting defense. Sound familiar? lol
I agree but even with Wade you felt his presence on defense early on. Hopefully we feel that with Quinn. I do understand some guys are just coordinators...but it seems like at the very least though Falcons teams should've had good defenses but they were known for not only getting scored on but letting teams get back in games....I subscribe to the theory that some guys just have ceilings as to what they can handle. Some just max out at the coordinator level, some just at the positional coach level. Too much responsibility, too much being pulled in different directions, etc.
Wade Phillips is another. Great DC. Blah HC.
Malcolm Butler to Arizona.
One thing that stood out here in Atlanta about Quinn's tenture - except during the consecutive playoff appearances during the 2nd and 3rd years - every season the team went through prolonged losing streaks. On a unrelated note somewhat.....why do you guys think Quinn didn't work out in Atlanta? Well Watson, not so much.Imagine passing on Deshaun Watson and Mahomes in the draft. Moving up to take Trubisky. Then having hopes of Russell Wilson and you have to settle for our trash in Dalton lmao. Such a sad franchise they are.
Poor coach. Nobody has even told him A. Smith wasn't coming back

2015: started out 5-0; then went 1-7 with an 0-6 nosedive before finishing up 2-1 to go 8-8
2018: started out 4-4; then went 0-5, then finished 3-0 to wind up 7-9.
2019: started out 1-1; then went 0-6. The Falcons did an about-face the 2nd half of the season....going 6-2 with a 4-0 finish to wind up 7-9.
2020: after an 0-5 start, Quinn (and GM Thomas Dimitroff) were fired.
And many of those losses were excruciating - some games the Falcons were ahead or dominating in the first half, then would stumble & bumble their way in the 2nd half. A good number of those games were defeats snatched from the jaws of victory in the last 5 minutes or less remaining in the 4th qtr (exhibit A - --- the "watermelon" onside kick).
In addition, there were home losses that were punctuated with questionable and controversal decisions made by Quinn (in a similar matter done by a certain former Cowboys HC....).
