What free agents are you referencing? Hell some of their free agents use to play for Dallas lol.

DT Tyson Alualu rated as one of the top interior defensive linemen last season even at his current age of 34

CB Shaquill Griffin a near top rated CB in the free agent class

S Rayshawn Jenkins a quality safety who looks to be the new SS starter

WR Phillip Dorsett speedy WR who adds to the young WR corp

RB Carlos Hyde adds depth behind starter Robinson

CB Sidney Jones (re-signing) quality young CB when healthy

DE Dawuane Smoot (re-signing) quality consistent DE

CB Tre Herndon (re-signing) quality CB in the nickel package

DT Roy Robertson-Harris decent d-line depth signing

DE Jihad Ward defensive line depth signing

TE Chris Manhertz a top rated blocking TE

KR Jamal Agnew a top rated return specialist

So they are adding pieces to their rebuild and none were with Dallas last season.

I would take a gander at Breeland at corner from the Chiefs. That dude is a gamer.

I think it boils down to the defense inability to create turnovers. It has been a huge problem for years. Players like Bryon/Awuzie, struggled badly in that area.

Maybe, but we weren't better without Jones. In fact, we were much, much worse. So how does that really translate, I ask myself? To me, it's not the DBs and their inablity to make plays on the ball. Truth is, INTs don't usually come off of spectacular plays on the ball. That's not how it works. INTs come when three things happen, typically. One, when you can prevent a Receiver from getting into position to make a catch. Two, when you can pressure the QB into making a quick or poor throw. Three, when you can fool a QB into making the wrong read in Coverage. That's where the overwhelming majority of turnovers come from. So the ability to make spectacular plays on the ball are really overrated IMO. Build a Defense that can create those three situation and you will get TOs. But that's not what this organization has done in the last several years. I feel like we are stuck on this idea that DBs need to create TOs with dynamic plays on the ball and nothing could be further from the truth. I feel like we are stuck on Deion mode. This franchise doesn't get it. There was one Deion and he's been gone for like 22 years now, figure it out guys. This is not the way to draft talent at DB. Build a defense that complements each other and works together. Stop trying to find the next Deion because guess what, that guy may never come and even if he does, the NFL rules may never allow him to be as great as Deion was in his time.

IDK.........

I don't call people haters who have an opinion that differs from mine. I call people haters who do nothing but hate all the time on any subject related to the Cowboys. Like you do.

Okay, thanks for the clarification and your ever so insightful posts.

Then your expectations are wrong. Second rounders are not generally starters, especially at corner. Sure you hope they are, but it rarely works.

This is all second- and third-round players. 54 players and there's, what, 10 starters? That's roughly a 20% hit rate, if you're keeping track.

So like I primarily said, it is a bad take because it is disconnected from the reality of the NFL. Chido is about as good as you can expect from a second-round corner.

That does make sense. Perhaps I should qualify, Chido wasn't the player I hoped he would be. Especially because many considered him a possible first rounder.

Been saying that as well. You could realistically sign Malcolm Brown, Breeland and Kazee for around 10 million for all of them

I would be stoked at that haul. That fixes a lot of ailments with guys that can actually still play too.

LOL. Sidney Jones has missed 52% of his games since he's been in the NFL. When you miss over half the games, youre not a "quality young cb when healthy" in the nfl, because he's never healthy.

Valid point. Just curious, your thoughts on Dallas CB Trevon Diggs? Both Diggs and Jones were 2nd round draft picks (Jones was once considered a 1st round prospect but suffered a torn achilles prior to being drafted in 2017) and Diggs missed 5 games his rookie year last year due to injury, yet he is seen as a promising young CB when healthy.

Diggs stats (11 of 16 games) 58 Tackles 3 INT's 14 PD's 1 FF 1 Sack QB Comp % 54.8% QB Yards 667 QB TD's 5 Missed Tackles 7.9%

Jones stats (14 of 30; injured prior to rookie season) 76 Tackles 4 INT's 19 PD's 1 FF QB Comp % 57.7% QB Yards 880 QB TD's 7 Missed Tackles 14.7%

So I agree Jones has missed many games due to injury but as stated, when healthy, he has shown himself to be a decent CB.

So basically they re-signed their free agents and signed Shaq Griffin who was apart of one of the worst secondaries in the league.....gotcha.
