FEATURED FA agent thread

Not denying any of that but understanding how this organization is ran and where they choose to put their resources....I have a strong feeling Gallimore will be a starter next year.

That would not surprise me at all. I just don't think it's a good idea to count on him in that role, at least not without a solid contingency plan. (And Hill should not be it.) If we're done in free agency at defensive tackle, then I want us to find a way to get Barmore, Nixon, Onwuzurike or Tufele (all of whom would probably take at least our second-round pick). I could also live with Tommy Togiai as competition if we can't get any of the others.

And I still think we need to upgrade NT with someone like Alim McNeill or Tyler Shelvin. I like Woods as a backup, and I'm not sure that any of the other players we have are 1-techs.

However, right now we also need a starting free safety, starting corner and two-down starting linebacker, so I don't know how we are going to effectively fill all of those spots in the draft with the kind of quality you need to start immediately. It looks we're at least attempting to fill the FS spot with a starting body, though.

This team has shown time and time again they don’t value safety or dt.....until they show that I can’t assume they will upgrade the position.

I still don't understand why, with a team that doesn't value outside FAs, fans want to cut Jaylon. Getting Neal and cutting Jaylon just means we still need a third linebacker. We have enough holes to fill without creating more. If Jaylon plays poorly this year, then we can look to cut him next year.

Because he's terrible.

He was not terrible a couple of years ago when both he and LVE were healthy and we were in a similar scheme to the one we're going to be using him. In fact, he was considered a Pro Bowl-caliber player. I'd prefer to wait and see if he can return to that form before creating another hole to fill.

its simple

Jaylon is not just garbage but his lazy take credit where it’s not due and preen attitude infects the team

I’d have cut him yesterday

And I think you are overreacting to a bad year in a scheme that did not protect the linebackers because the DTs were so bad. Our LBs were dodging linemen and unable to get to their gaps because the DTs couldn't tie up the linemen. We did not have a single linebacker look very good, so we should ask ourselves why that was the case.

A pre June cut would also cost them more cap wise than keeping him wouldn't it?

They can cut him now and designate it for June 1 to save more this year, but have no use of that money until then.

May as well just take the whatever the medicine is now and not drag it out, but whatever.

Him NOT being on the field alone helps out.

Maybe Smith just doesn’t fit in what Quinn wants?

What’s the best way to support your 2nd round QB? Bring back the QB that won you the only SB in franchise history and have the fans screaming for him when your young QB struggles.

LOL.
Sounds like the fastest possible way to divide the fanbase....and also the locker room.

They are a mess and fully deserve themselves.

If Quinn had the ***** to tell Jerry that he doesn't want Smith instead of trying to pump sunshine just to get hired....and then Jerry actually listens...I'd have a new level of respect for both.
