I have heard people talk up Campbell, is there anyone out there that can give us 8-10 sacks a year and take the pressure off of Ware?

My dream is to somehow get mario williams but that is way out there.

Houston will tag him before they let him go.

Don't think Mario Williams will be worth his price tag in a 3-4.

I don't think there are many pass rushers that would benefit a 3-4 in FA this year. Spencer is actually a top prize, I believe.

That said, draft someone to replace him.

And Arizona could end up doing the same thing with Campbell.

Cliff Averil Detroit.

That would be interesting. Any idea on how much of priority he is for Detroit to resign?

This. We need more production from that position, and hopefully the Cowboys feel the same.

why and then have to pay him that much when Reed and Barwin has played pretty damn good.

this is why we cant think "pass rusher" we have to think "front 7"

if we get a good NT (in FA or draft and there are good ones available), then Rat moves to DE and we get an OLB

now we have pressure from both OLBs and the DE position
and the pocket collapses in the middle so running is difficult and the QB cant step up

this solves our problems in terms of stopping the run and rushing the passer but it makes too much sense for JJ to do this

we are still stuck in the "Rat does not want to move to DE"

Rat has been the NT for years and is wearing down, our defense wears down in december and at the end of games. that is why we cant close out games because there is little pressure up the middle, Rat gets blocked by one person and teams double ware, the QB stands back and picks us apart

well, maybe Rat should be asked to do what is best for the team, no?

crazy idea, i know

bingo.

i think that we will be surprised with how much help the pressure will get by retooling the defensive line.

If we had any kind of an interior push on the DL i bet Spencer could reach the 8-10 sacks a year range easy.

Awesome another thread that has Ratliff moving to defensive end. Sweet!!

Why? Because some internet posters think so or 3 different head coaches think differently.

Because of his skill set. His strengths would all be better utilized at the DE position of a 34, and he's not strong enough or big enough to hold up at NT in a 34. We've seen that for the last 2 years. We get zero push inside on the pass rush and don't collapse the pocket at all.

He had 3.5 sacks last year and 2 this year. Put him on DE and i bet that goes up to at least 6 a year.

I'm engrossed with Calai Campbell. He's got the size that intimidates and makes it hard to throw over as well. Hatcher is there on the size as well. Give me Spears in a rotational role, and Lissimore to grow. Hopefully as well as Stephen Bowen did before him. That leaves a solid pair of Jay Ratliff and Brent at the nose. Brent is one, if he gets excited in the training room with the present status there, who could be all an opposing center wishes to deal with as well.

I'm thinking that one very strong addition woud be enough at the defensive line. Where I would flip the switch, as to an extreme addition, besides upgrading with Campbell, would simply be at outside linebacker. And get a young player to fill in shortly...as Carter and Lee start to dominate in the interior.

And Burma, I've appreciated your interests and participation this past week...:starspin

BTW.. that's 3 different head coaches who have lead us to a total of one playoff win.

;)

Which is one more than anyone posting on this message board so I think they know more than us about football otherwise we would be coaching and not on here. Until you become the head coach and move him maybe you should accept that he is a pro bowl player at tackle and stop worrying about it.

..or maybe you could develop a mind of your own, and realize that every move that a football coach makes isn't the right one.

He may have been voted to the Pro Bowl, but that doesn't mean it was because of his play this season. Did you see us getting a big interior pass rush all year? Or did you see Rat getting pushed off the line and opposing QB's having a wide open pocket to step up in all year long?

Yep no question Dallas front office and coaching staff know everything there is to know about personnel and football, the record and results prove it right?:laugh1:
