The point you seem to be missing is....

There has to be boundaries. Her action, no matter her intentions, completely disrespected Veterans buried there and their families. Every generation it seems we inch towards less respect and more attention ***** behavior. She even comes right out and says she likes to ruffle feathers.

I don't think she should be tarred and feathered or hung from the old oak in the public square but the message that this sort of crap will not be accepted must be sent and that there will be repercussions if you are stupid/arrogant enough to go there.

If she had just taken the stupid picture of her "yelling" I doubt it would have blown up on her. The finger puts it way over the top. Which it seems is right where she wants to be.

I think the overall point is this...
Yes she did something stupid. And yes you are right we have all done something stupid at one time or another. But there is a difference between doing something stupid and doing something that is intentionally disrespectful. Those are two vastly different things. She made it very clear in her response that it was her intent to be disrespectful before she said she didn't mean to be disrespectful. She even called herself a "******" and that's the way she is. Well okay but if that is the way she is, then she needs to understand she will reap the consequences of her actions.

Too many times we make excuses for people to help them avoid the consequences of their actions and thus, the behavior is never corrected. And I don't think her "life should be ruined" but since she was on company time and acting like that, she should receive whatever the employer thinks is just, up to and including being terminated.

But please stop equating what she did with some youthful brain fart that can be passed off as some prank. She is a grown, employed woman who did this. And truthfully, I don't think she is sorry for the act itself, but only for putting it on the internet for all the world to see what kind of person she is.

No, but suppose no one cared. And other nuts decided this was okay. Where do you stop? Bringing in buses to do this kind of thing ala Code Pink? Or what about someone spray painting the markers? Hey, it can clean up. When you let the small things slide they lead to bigger things. People like this want to see how far they can push the boundaries of disrespect. If this isn't called out, what would be next for her? Taking a dump on the graves?
