So I started this part time job that required me to shave my go-tee. I was able to keep my mustache, but I'm really struggling with the new look. I've had my go-tee and mustache for years. Sometimes would grow a nice beard out of it, but always kept the hair on my chin. The look was how people knew me.

Now I have a bad Super Trooper mustache. I feel naked and VERY self-conscious. Anyone else ever have to go thru this? I just don't feel that I have the face that can withstand minimal facial hair. I need coverage.

I knew a girlfriend once that had a "facial dilemma, problem was solved when she received a nice piece of jewelry for her birthday....and no it wasn't a pearl necklace.
I am the same way though, I need my facial hair and feel bare without it.

at work here you either have to have a full beard or clean shaven...which sucks because I look best in the scruffy stubble look.

I hate shaving so I went full beard.

I tried growing a beard once 9 years ago. I knew I really couldn't grow one but I tried anyway. I let it grow for 5 weeks. I have the inbreed "Joe Dirt" gene. That's how my beard looked. I shaved it off and haven't looked back since. I wish I could grow one as I still have to shave, but luckily I can get by every other day.

My wife absolutely hated my last beard. To the point where she'd have her friends come up to me at dinner parties acting as plants to tell me I was much more handsome clean shaven. Every time it happened (it only happened twice), I added another inch to the bottom of the beard without saying a word. Or, when her other friends would ask why I didn't shave my facial hair for her, I'd tell them "I don't tell my wife how to trim her mustache. She shouldn't ask me how to trim mine."

I have no idea how I'm not single. The woman is a mustachioed saint.

If you had a mustache as part of your facial hair, you likely had a Van Dyke... Goatee's have no mustache... ;)

Sounds like you are rockin' a ** Manchu now...

I have a Van Dyke most of the time although I think the Friendly Mutton Chops look pretty sweet... :D

Can you wear a "beard net"?

Sure you might be about as happy as this guy and look really, really dumb, but at least you have your chin hair!

Isn't forcing someone to shave a goatee a civil rights violation?

I used to tell the wife I needed the Goat to hide the turkey.
Goatee hides the turkey neck.

About once every other year I shave down to a goatee but not too long later I go back to the winter beard.

Used to keep the mustache but with my alleregies so bad anymore and my getting in sneezing fits for a full day (at least) I keep it cut down.

So according to Tricks chart I go old dutch...or Amish as we call it around these parts.

I think you're thinking of 'forcing someone to shave a goat.'

Found that one out the hard way.

Hahaha. You have to admit though - its profiling.

Yet we cannot do this in other arenas, or we are called bad names..
