It comforts me that people like that never get to really enjoy the good times like us real fans.

That's the truth. Those of us that are here now and have been here through Campo, bobbled snaps and choking away first round byes will appreciate it alot more once this team finally gets them another ring. I predict we don't have much longer to wait.

does it really matter though when someone becomes a fan?

I started to like the Cowboys in 1975 when I was nine because I liked the name Cowboys. In 1977 when I was 11 I followed NFL for the first time and the Cowboys won, gee who do you think became my team.

Whether or not a person knows questions about history, the last first round pick or whatever really is meaningless. People do not know their nation's history so why do you think people should know who the last first round draft pick was, historical questions on the team. Hell most people cannot remember what they ate for breakfast.

Why someone becomes a fan is pretty meaningless, all that matters is that they are fans.

yes I'm serious.

Two years ago I forgot or didn't realize Roy Williams switched to 38, does that make me a bad fan? I don't know the starting lineup for the first SB win, does that make me a bad fan?

No that doesnt make you a bad fan.....If you were to go out right now and buy some Saints Fuzzy house slippers that would make you a bad fan. Actually its not about being a bad fan, I would consider a bad fan a person who likes a team but could careles if they win or lose. A Fair weather fan is something totally different.

Still a lot of Katrina refugees there, no?

yep, but Atlanta is notoriously a fair weather city. Katrina refugees, or not. I had plenty of fans wearing Falcons gear that stocked up on Saints stuff. They say " There is nothing wrong with giving them credit! They are my 2nd favorite team". lol. I tell them, you can give them credit, but that doesn't mean you need to buy their gear! I would never wear Eagles gear but i thought Dawkins was a heck of a safety. There is a difference in respecting someone and buying their stuff just to fit in. I don't blame Atlanta fans though, they have a team in all 4 major sports and have a combined 1 championship. It's sad.

Last year was worse. I saw Ravens fans transform into Steelers fans!! Yes thats right Steelers fans. I knew atleast 4 people that became Steelers fans, and swore they have been with the team forever.

People want to be associated with a 'winner', so it happens all the time! I mean, explain where the 'boat load' of Patriots fans came from since 2002?? I live in Md. and believe me, I had never seen a Patriots jersey my entire life, and I'm sure many of you 35 years and up agree!!

I live in southwestern Mississippi and I didn't see one iota of Saints gear today. They were the hottest topic of discussion and people were walking around screaming "Who Dat" and all of the Saints' novelty songs on the radio though. I guess the "fans" couldn't be bothered to equip themselves with the gear. Whatevs, I was glad to not see any. Admittedly, I was going to wear a Peyton Manning jersey around town if the Colts had won. :lmao2:

I'm just glad that there are no Cowboys fans that started being fans because the Cowboys won a Super Bowl. None, zero, nada, zilch. Oh, wait a minute, there's freaking millions.

I live in Louisiana and work about 45 minutes from New Orleans. I didn't see one iota of Saints gear on people at work last season, sans a couple of true fans that have their offices decorated with Saints stuff.

Now everyone has a Bush, Brees, or Sharper jersey.

FWIW, the people where I live hated the Katrina refugees for the traffic congestion, crime, and infrastructure issues they caused in my city. The population of nearby Baton Rouge doubled overnight after Katrina and stayed that way for a long time. You couldn't even find a loaf of bread on the grocery store shelves for several weeks afterward.

Now...these same people are cheering the Saints and soaking up this Katrina storyline. It just makes you wonder...

The difference is....

You've been a Cowboy's fan through some tough times. You likely had had to take some crap from others because you were a fan of a not very good team. Because of that you have EARNED the right to talk crap to fans of other teams now that "your" team is on the upswing.

Bandwagon fans of recent champions who never professed their fanhood during "their" teams down period HAVE NOT earned the right to talk crap to other fans.

Pat's fans were few and far between around here until 2002. Now you can't throw a rock without hitting one. If they start talkling crap they damn well better be able to back that up with some knowledge of "their" team's history.

No question the Saints have some fair weather fans they also have some hardcore fans who have suffered since that team was formed in 1971. Their history has been nothing but losing to the point that fans wore bags on their head but they were still at the stadium bags and all.

To those fans congratulations on a championship and hanging with your team all this time. For them this is a long time dream come true

To the fair weather fans or bandwagon you will have a new champion to celebrate next year but will never understand the real joy that hardcore fans feel because you never had to suffer.

I bet you encounter Commanders fans hanging up their jerseys and putting on Hines Ward or Big Ben jersey. PG County reeks of bandwagon fans.

Seriously, why do you care what other people wear?

You realize that the majority of Americans are not die-hard football fans, right?

45% of the TVs in America that were on Sunday night were tuned to the Super Bowl. That means that the majority were watching something else.

So what, somebody watched a bit of the season and the game, liked the Saints story or Brees or whatever and bought a jersey.

I fail to see why anyone should care, to be honest.
