A Houston entrepeneur "Mattress Mac", owner of Gallery Furniture ( you may have seen the www.Galleryfurniture.com college bowl game)
Has this on commercials and on his website:

Let's hear it for the Texan's. A Texan win against the Cowboys October 15th could mean free furniture for you. Starting October 4th. 10 AM, all furniture and electronic purchases over $ 4000 (excluding tax, warrany and delivery)could be free.

What do you guys think? I think ole Mac will be in the stands pulling for his team...the :starspin

I saw that ad on TV a few times this week. Mac is not going to be handing out furniture for free :laugh2:

A friend of mine heard and said we need to go down and pick up some new furniture. I asked her if she heard correctly. THE TEXANS had to WIN to get it free. She laughed and changed the subject. :lmao:

I hand to Mac he took a nothing business and transformed it into a very successful business with stunts like this. You buy it and when the Texans lose you pay for it. :laugh2: I have only been to his store once and did not care for the pressure sells tactic they use but none the less he has becomes a big time personality in this city

He also made this offer when they played the Colts. He didn't make it for Miami or Washington and probably won't make it when they play Tennessee. He really goes out on a limb.

Well he would not stay in business long if he was just handing out free furniture. He doing this like the lotto, odds are long that you will get free furniture but if you were thinking about buying it anyways why not get it from him with an outside chance of getting it for free?

Something like this happened just a couple of weeks ago -- in Chicago, I think -- where some furniture merchant had to pay off on a risk like this. Some woman got $5,000 worth of furniture free that she thought she was going to have to pay for.

Unless he does a landslide business, the advertising is probably worth it if he has to take the losses.

I saw the commercial today...what a riot.

Matress Mac is such an idiot. He plays this character of a kind, giving individual, yet my dad-a retired pilot-had to have him removed from a flight once because he was a drunk a-hole...the one time I actually stepped into his store, I saw him yelling at and insulting employees...

If somebody needs furniture and is in a position to buy and the furniture is good quality I think they should take a chance. Everybody and his brother is going to be following the example of the Eagles and blitz and stunt us crazy. If something works, your team is a fool not to use it until the opponent gets it stopped. I have very little confidence in the rest of the season, regardless of what the Cowboy's spin machine says...

He's one of the more successful entrepreneurs in Houston...even if his furniture is somewhat blah and the commercials are cheesy. He's a multi-millionaire several times over. His name is involved in many sponsorships throughout the community. If the impossible occurred, the loss would be a drop in the bucket.

Kind of a low-end Jerry. Uses that country charm for good.
