He can. But if he chooses a certified NFLPA agent to represent him the team must honor that. Period. The player can at any point represent himself...if he chooses.

For any contract, a representative lawyer may or may not be hired. Nothing fancy Dan because of the NFL. He has the rights all along for a binding representative. UCC stuff and binding. *(Uniform Commercial Code)He can. But if he chooses a certified NFLPA agent to represent him the team must honor that. Period.
Lol, I got a Parsons jersey for Christmas last year. I hope he stays on the teamWill Jerry reimburse me for the cost of my new Parsons' jersey?
Not at any point. Micah would have to sever contractual ties with his agent and inform the union he will represent himself going forward. The NFLPA still has to approve any contract. He cannot change that. He has nothing to gain by not being represented by an NFLPA certified agent. The player can at any point represent himself...if he chooses.
Your attempt to bring in the Justice Department doesn't at all change basics of contracts. Not at any point. Whose idea was it to put Micah’s locker next to Dak’s?

The League and the NFLPA must both approve all players’ contracts. They are otherwise not valid. That has nothing to do with Jones, Parsons, or Mulugheta. None of them can circumvent the CBA.Your attempt to bring in the Justice Department doesn't at all change basics of contracts.
You think lockers are the indicator here?
The agent is not the center feature in this projected contract! Jerry will get his way, and legally. Never has been any other way for that man.
"[Irvin] and I would tell them we could do some pretty good business without an agent sitting there. As you well know, I've done most of my negotiating without an agent in the room."

I'm not sure why you think this is a done deal? This is, and should be, a non-issue.
The deal is done. I'm telling you..
Agreed. Tagging him ensures that the bad blood and distractions lasts 3 years and potentially divides the locker room. One other thought. If the team decides tagging Parsons gives them leverage, it’s fools gold.
Elite NFL players getting tagged damages the relationship between the player and the team because it makes the player feel like they are just a product. Everyone thinks NFL players are greedy and only about the money. But it’s also about feeling respected and appreciated for their talents.
Tagging Parsons will be a huge mistake. If they won’t pay him market value, trade him. I think JJ knows he’s botched this and is clumsily trying to save face. It’s isn’t working.
There are a number on this forum that should be made read this. Many fans saw the appearance of Jerry Jones on Michael Irvin’s podcast today. Saying he had “an offer on the table for Micah Parsons” with sizeable numbers.
JJ saying all that is a total waste of time and a complete misrepresentation of how NFL contract negotiations are to be conducted according to the NFL’s current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
For example, if an NFL player has an NFLPA-certified agent, (which Parson’s agent David Mulugheta certainly is) then all negotiations must go through that agent. Period. Teams are forbidden from contacting or negotiating with players who are represented by an agent without the agent's presence.
Jerry knows this! Clubs can face penalties for violating this rule, including the cancellation of any contract offer or signed contract made outside of these rules. This rule protects players by ensuring they are represented by their agent during negotiations, helping to prevent situations where a team might pressure a player into a less favorable deal without their agent present. (Imagine that)
So if we hear Jerry or Stephen say that “we had an agreement last March”, it is a completely invalid argument. Apparently meant to win in the court of public opinion in hopes that many Cowboys fans should buy that. Don’t buy it. It’s invalid.
There is no contract. That has to be reviewed by both the NFL and Player's Association. The League and the NFLPA must both approve all players’ contracts. They are otherwise not valid. That has nothing to do with Jones, Parsons, or Mulugheta. None of them can circumvent the CBA.

You do understand they were talking about a NEW contract?Even if the player is under contract?
Then he's no Lawrence Taylor...volunteer to approve the $100M + contract for him why don't you?Agreed. Tagging him ensures that the bad blood and distractions lasts 3 years and potentially divides the locker room.
JJ might consider this “leverage”, but at what cost? Sacrificing team and fan morale and alienating one of your best players is simply not worth it.
The only options here are to make nice, and sign a long term deal or trade him.
If JJ wants to make a point to stand on business and screw the agent, then give Micah what he wants and trade him to an AFC non-contender for nothing short of huge haul of picks and then move on.
Dragging this out and continuing to piss in the pool publicly like this is only making the situation worse
Why hasn't the NFLPA taken action against Jerry because he's done this repeatedly? Many fans saw the appearance of Jerry Jones on Michael Irvin’s podcast today. Saying he had “an offer on the table for Micah Parsons” with sizeable numbers.

I am fine with trading him. Or with signing him because we are a better team with him on the field. Then he's no Lawrence Taylor...volunteer to approve the $100M + contract for him why don't you?
That’s BS!! The agents work for the players, period. If a player goes and agrees with the team on a contract that’s his prerogative, period. Many fans saw the appearance of Jerry Jones on Michael Irvin’s podcast today. Saying he had “an offer on the table for Micah Parsons” with sizeable numbers.

Correct absolutelyThe player can at any point represent himself...if he chooses.
That's the issue alright ... he's darn near waiting on an approval by you. For sure, go figure.I am fine with trading him. Or with signing him because we are a better team with him on the field.
What I am not fine with is our GM bungling a negotiation this poorly and facing no accountability or consequences for it.
