Did some wheelin' and dealin'. Lost next years 4th and 6th round picks, but moved up in the 3rd and the 5th.

Here, you have potentially 5-6 impact players who could see significant playing time year one. I believe you could pencil in Kevin Johnson as a starter. Xavier Cooper, Grady Jarrett, and Jermauria Rasco would all rotate in and out. Chris Conley is huge depth, no pun intended. Cedric Ogbuehi provides a nice backup option and potential replacement for Doug Free down the line. Kyle Loomis looks to be a great punter and could really help with field position.

27 - R1P27
CB KEVIN JOHNSON

60 - R2P28
DT XAVIER COOPER

68 - R3P4
RB TEVIN COLEMAN

would love for this draft but Ogbuehi concerns me. From what I have read, he is talented but scouts are concern about his desire to play. Good job though.

I have not heard that, not saying it is not true...just did not hear that.

However his stock is lower than what some project him due to him tearing his ACL in the bowl game so Not sure how long it would be before he could practice.

I've got Rowe on my mock in the 4th as well and got called out for it - there is a lot of buzz he'll go in the 2nd round or at least won't last till the 4th.

mock draft 3/22 update 3/29
1. Malcolm Brown DT
2. Quinten Rollins - FS
3. Jay Ajayi RB
4. Eric Rowe CB
5. Laurence Gibson OT
7. Derrick Malone LB
7. David Irving DT

I would change this to include that punter though. lol

I am more surprised at Malcom Brown falling in your mock vs Eric Rowe.

There are multiple big boards on the Fan Speak that have Rowe in the 3-4 round range. However I think he probably is climbing up now.

Funny aside.

I was doing one of the fanspeak mocks and saw Malcolm Brown from Texas in the later rounds and knew it had to be a mistake...it was the Running back and not the DT lol.

Truth be told I don't think the odds are in our favor that Brown falls to us at 27. He's too easy to fit into whatever scheme a team is using. He's got rare pass rush ability for a guy his size. But what made me put him on there was seeing enough mocks from experts that had him falling that far. I figure hey I"m doing a mock and this is what I'd like to see happen.

Tevin Coleman is ranked #52 by ESPN and #62 by CBS. Does it seem realistic to get him at #91 ?

It might not be realistic but if you use the CBS big board on the fan speak...I have seen him fall to the third round in our pick at least once.

same board:

27: R1P27
DE OWAMAGBE ODIGHIZUWA
UCLA
---got the big pass rusher I wanted. can play run and pass.

60: R2P28
CB BYRON JONES
CONNECTICUT
---underrated zone corner type. very physical. emulates Carr nicely imho.

91: R3P27
RB T.J. YELDON
ALABAMA
--my fave value RB was available late 3 thus a no brainer for me.

127: R4P28
OT TYRUS THOMPSON
OKLAHOMA
--depth OT with starting upside.

163: R5P27
DT XAVIER WILLIAMS
NORTHERN IOWA
--Underrated small school DL. Could see 10-15 snaps a game as a rookie and then grow into a future starter.

236: R7P19
OLB DERRICK MALONE JR.
OREGON
--good athlete that can help on special teams early. once scheme is learned could play regular role.

243: R7P26
S DETRICK BONNER
VIRGINIA TECH
--late round pick with future starting potential. helps early on special teams and saves money.

sort of, yes.

Rankings are fine but some positions like RB see guys drafted well below value EVERY year.
Coleman may well last.
All the RB probably go below value on the board form which they are selected.

Could some team have Coleman top 40, sure?
But if he is really late 2nd then going in round 3 for a RB is hardly rare.

Dallas drafted Murray under a falling value scenario IIRC.

Every single time I do one, I end up with Coleman in the second. It's actually an eye opener, in that, running back in round one is probably not the smartest thing to do. The depth at running back in this draft is awesome.

My point is that the simulators are not realistic. They should at least offer an option to use "tight" rankings on the simulators If they are using the CBS board I tend to think that they should be with 1/2 of a round between the simulator and the actual CBS board.

yup I get same experience and regardless of draft board I choose.
in fact i often draft yeldon round 2 because i have a man crush on that value but truth is he is there at times in round 3.

cb, dl, lb are hard to find in this draft it seems.
so those positions seem to go rather high while wr/rb really drop.
ol/qb seems about normal which means elite guys gone early then depth is a solid/fair value.

with a draft so deep in RBs I do think it's realistic Coleman or Ajayi could fall to the 3rd. I personally think I would strategize my draft with that in mind, and wait till the 3rd to grab one or the other. If they both are gone, David Johnson will be there on day 3. Or you could grab Duke Johnson or one of the others. I mean how many teams want to draft a RB in the first two days in the draft...
