Fascination with Dunbar

Romo is always hurt, should we cut him too????? Dunbar is a dynamic player when used correctly in this offense and can play special teams.... Out in space, he's hard to cover and he got blazing speed.....And who says they're keeping a fullback anyway, I'd rather keep four tightends(Witten, Escobar, Swain, Traylor) and four running backs(Zeke, Morris, Dunbar, Jackson)..
Let's not try and compare a 3rd string RB to a QB, especially since this RB has never ever scored a single TD. talk is we might keep 2 FB's although i doubt that too. Lucky's versatility should keep Dunbar off the roster. I too am in favor of keeping 4 TE's, which again brings me back to this roster spot...even more of a reason to part with Dunbar.

I dont really get the irrational dislike of Dunbar and constant questioning of his place on the team. He's a matchup nightmare, exactly the kind of RB that would torch our own defense out of the backfield. Prior to last year he just had the 1 injury in 2013, he's not exactly Matt Johnson.

We have 5 running backs on the roster. We can take 4 on the 53 so let's see first who are the backs that are healthy and can practice.

Zeke
Morris
Jackson
Dunbar

I rather keep Jackson and Dunbar over McFadden. Mcfadden is the oldest back on the roster and he is hurt right now, can't practiced and hasn't practiced. Mainly I'm keeping Dunbar for his hurry up offense, special teams play and ability to kill defenses in the passing game. Can you imagine going Zeke and Dunbar with Dez, Beasley and Butler in a hurry up or 2 minute drill......

I just can't see the reason to keep this guy around any longer. Here are some reasons why.

1. always hurt and injured
A prior injury doesn't guarantee a future injury
2. where exactly does he fit?
He fits as a pass catcher. Was leading the team before his injury a year ago.
3. coming off a major knee injury, still hasn't practiced
Wrong. He has been practicing. As usual you don't do your due diligence
4. Lucky has won the KR and PR duties
So they ended that competition already? Lucky is a terrible receiver. His abilities as a returner doesn't guarantee him a spot.
5. 3rd down back?? can he pickup a blitzer?
He generally is in the pass pattern, but I never saw the QB get killed BECAUSE of him missing a block
6. He would be the 4th RB on the roster, plus a FB (too many)
Your assumption, but he offers something different than Morris and Jackson is a likely game day inactive even if he makes the 53
7. In 4 years with this team has NEVER crossed the goal line. 0 TD's
Someone has to move it between the endzones. He isn't a short yardage option so he doesn't have a ton of chances.

4 years worth of stats
391 yards rushing........with 524 yards receiving

At this point all I care about is that they get something for whichever back is odd man out. If they don't then everybody should get fired.

I'm not sure what fans don't like about his actual play. He's an inside outside runner who's a matchup headache for defenses. In the passing game, he can run the whole route tree and beat just about any linebacker in coverage. He can run between the tackles if necessary. He blocks well for his size, though that's not what he's built for. He's dynamic on screens, and he gives you something in the return game.

The only knock on him is that he's been injured or playing behind better players for most of his career here. But last year showed you what he can do.

I'm not sure I keep him now that we've got Elliott, and because I do like Jackson, but I'd keep him over McFadden for sure if that's the question.

When you say the only knock on him is injuries that's a big knock that's like saying the only knock on my house alarm is that it doesn't work sometimes THATS A PROBLEM

Lee was injured all of the time too. When healthy, he impacts the game big time. Dunbar is one of those kind of guys. We just gotta be patient and see what the Cowboys do with the RB situation.

I really like dunbar and was on his train but everything he does Zeke should able to do the same if not better. If an injury happens to Alf or Zeke I'd feel better with DMC filling in, being a true 3 down back, than with dunbar. Also DMC has experience returning kicks if Lucky gets hurt, obviously hes not as good as dunbar is returning kicks but is enough to not warrent a roster spot to dunbar as a 4th rb.

Its the samething with Leary I like having a starting caliber back up in case an injury should happen.

It sucks because I think he'll go on to recover fully and be a really good special teamer/situational back for another team.
