I’m zoning in on Darnell Washington as my pet cat and first pick if a trade down offer presents itself.

I think he checks off a lot if what our offense needs:

1. Want to improve the running game? Draft a great blocker.

2. Want to help the quarterback and passing game? Draft a 6’7” target who presents a matchup nightmare.

3. Want to allow Ferguson and Hendershot to focus on what they do best? Draft a TE who loves to do the oft-overlooked dirty work.
Oh yeah. That guy is a monster that didn’t have great production due to the fact that Georgia has a ton of offensive studs. Trade back and grab this guy in the 30s.

If you're talking at 26 then indeed you are correct sir.I would love either, but there will be good TE prospects to be had throughout this draft.
Deep TE draft.
True. But how many 3rd rounders turn into Kelce?? Kincaid is the most Kelce-like TE in this draft. Give me that guy over any guy to be had in the later rounds. Later rounds get you guys like Hendershot. Average but nothing in game-changer territory.

If that’s all you feel he can be, I don’t blame you. But I see much more potential. Potential not fully realized because he was part of the craziest-deep group of college TE’s I think we’ve ever seen.

Kincaid is a big receiver for me. Brings nothing in the area of blocking.

And Mayer is what he is, a solid TE close to maxed out. He’s Witten. High character and solid all around, but little future upside.
We don’t have time for yet another new TE to learn the system/game at this level. I want a guy who can do that from his 1st TC on. Kincaid and Mayer are the only 2 in this draft that are NFL-ready IMO.

I'm only adverse to taking a TE high because that is not what will propel us to super bowl contention.

Then I can see why you would like Mayer.

Hendershot was an UDFA, but understand what you are saying.

Washington is getting high for his blocking and high ceiling. The blocking is already developed but his Pass catching is behind. Give me the guy that’s already developed and well rounded if I’m taking him in the first round.

Couldn't agree more...I know the guy is a beast but he's a little rough around the edges otherwise. 3rd/4th rounder in my book.

Mel Kieper has Dallas taking ND's TE at 26. He picked correctly last year......
