How many running backs will have been taken by the time Dallas picks late in the fourth round?

My guess is 8 minimum- which means Miller is likely gone. He wouldn't be a bad pick there though!

Dallas sitting near the back of each round means they might have to grab a RB one round higher than they might like- depending on how urgent they think the need is.
8 backs? I think that is high. I see 3 or 4 backs through round 2.

I agree with that estimate through round 2. If 3 go in the third, that means 6-7 could be gone before the fourth round even begins. If only 2 are taken in the fourth before Dallas picks, Dallas is looking at the 9th-10th best back. Maybe worse.

That scares me, because I think Dallas needs more than a JAG.

Seems like this will be a series of articles about the draft called Fast Forward. Leading up to the draft.

1st one is about RB's. Currently on the roster as well as draft prospects.
It does not cover all the RB's in the draft, but some top prospects. They did leave off a few I know that some posters have mentioned.
All rookie RB’s are able to hit the ground running. Easiest position to learn.

Break away speed.. Gibbs is a weapon; He is a threat to score from anywhere on the field.. If Pollard isn't healthy or has lost some of his burst following his recent injury, then Gibbs would be the perfect complement to him.
Speed is not everything. I have seen a lot of backs with top 40 times that did not play that fast. I would rather have a back a little slower that does everything else better.

I'm not going RB at 26. I'd rather wait until the 3rd round to get one. Still good ones there.
Amen brother....my gosh, there's a kid outta Minnesota (Ibrahim) we could take in the 4th and he would be just what the Dr. ordered.

How do you know what will be left after the 3rd round? You can see on a lot of these guys predicted rounds when they will be taken. Lots of good backs after the 3rd round and Miller is one of them.
No one knows. How do you know there will be any quality ones left after the 3rd?

The line of thinking that there are plenty of good RBs in rounds 4 and later is simply erroneous. Taking a quick look at where starters were taken, most NFL starting RB's were taken in the 2nd round, w/ a sprinkling of 1st and 3rd rounders. Anything after that is a crappshoot. Sure, you have your Pecheco's and Aaron Jones's, but those are the outliers. For every Aaron Jones you have a plethora of Bo Scarboroughs and Donald Pumphreys and Ryan Switzers.

Agree on speed. What a RB needs is burst, the burst to get to and through the hole. Those holes do not stay open long, not long at all. Gotta be Flash for the first 10 steps.

I agree…likely Bijan, Gibbs, Charbonnet, maybe 1 more like Achane as a compliment
Personally, I would probably bite my lip and take Bijan…he is as close to a sure thing as it gets.

Left for R3 and later: Spears, Johnson, Tank, Evans, Israel, Miller, Brown, McBride, Gray, Ibrahim

All won’t be stars or starters but most have a good chance to be solid NFL RB’s in the right situation. Some will likely get injured or stuck behind a better back and people will say see, it’s a crap shoot. But there are only so many teams that need a primary back and there are some really good one’s in the league already. But we have a spot and don’t require a lead back…we need a compliment. If we get a lead back, great…there is a lot of lead back potential in this draft. If we miss, it cost us a 3rd, 4th or 5th. But the odds of missing drop significantly when we have a spot warmed up and just require a compliment. History may say RB’s after the 2nd are a crap shoot but the game is different today and RB’s tend to go later. In a class this deep, there will likely be good value 1-2 rounds later than normal years. IMO

Charbonet doesn't have game changing speed. More like a cement mixer
He has game changing power, game changing blocking, and game changing short yardage ability.

You must be a FF player where nothing matters but HR speed. Power RBs are more important to beating good teams than gazelles are.

So first you said he could be a backup, now not so much. Got it. Just know you contradicted yourself and are wrong to boot. Later....
You are a strange one. Had to twist really hard to declare victory, hey? Guess that's what you do when you're WRONG!!! Later darling!!!!

I wouldn't object if we drafted two RBs this year -- one for power and another for quickness and speed.

There's no guarantee that Pollard might return to form fully himself, and as healthy as he was last year.

Zeke had zero standout traits, aside from blocking. He was above average at everything else.

Problem w/ that, is just a few leg injuries and that above average drops to average or below.
Agree that Zeke became ineffective, we ran him into a brick wall with zero space for a few years, Zeke probably left a lot of bruises on Connor Williams back.

Nothing at all wrong with ending up with a T Spears in the 3rd and R. Johnson with the very next pick in 4th.

Im sure to receive a lot of glad you're not the GM nonsense, but I dont care.. not directed at you BF, just the general mob.

Many would object, but we have already resourced TE with Ferg and Hendershott, now I would not object if we drafted Mayer or Kincaid there, but I believe that 26 is going to OL or Edge rusher slips.

Top two RBs are not going to slip as far as some are thinking, BR and Gibbs will come off the board both in the 1st round, if Gibbs makes it to the top of the 2nd, somebody gets a grade A on draft day 2.

If Gibbs is slipping and big IF we could find a trade partner to drop out of 1st to gain draft capital, I would forfiet the 5th year option to draft immidiate plug and play Gibbs in this offense would make it dynamic west coast.

Exactly the player MM needs desperately, those that think getting rid of Zeke will be that easy it can be if MM gets an instant upgrade in BR or Gibbs, but this is a rich RB class, just those two specifically define the tier 1 RBs in this class.
