The Cowboys really don't have many burners but I would've said Dunbar or Scandrick before I watched the vid.
It seems like Scandrick is the consensus.
I'd take Herschel and TO all day. Somehow TO would consistently get 5 yards behind the defense and Romo would launch scuds 50 yards.
I always find it interesting how non-professional athletes think 4.5 is "not that fast". The average guy getting off the couch that's in shape doesn't run a 4.6.How did he run a 4.4 forty if he's not that fast? Jet pack?
There was nothing legit about those Bo times, they were hand timed. Look at the difference between the top hand-timed forties and the top times after electronic timing was introduced. The differences are significant.
I would love a burner WR threat on this team. Give me a Desean Jackson or Mike Wallace without the personality issues.
Anyone with inside knowledge knows it's Rowdy. He even looks fast.
As much as I love Cole Beasley, if the coaching staff isn't going to use him, they need to bring in a WR3 who is a real burner. Someone who can take the top off the defense and catches the ball high.
The team lacks a lot of speed, which makes it even more frustrating when they won't incorporate Dunbar more. I'm surprised we don't try to use Dunbar more on returns.
Orlando Scandrick has a better 40 time than Dunbar, but I don't see him playing as fast as his 40 time to be honest. I don't think I've really seen him carry a WR down field.
On two different occasions in 2013, Jeff Heath ran past Scandrick when both were chasing a player far down-field. I re-watched it several times and it was not an illusion.
You don't need a timer to know that Bo Jackson was one of the fastest players to ever step on a football field. I'm certain that he's the fastest at his weight. There was nothing legit about those Bo times, they were hand timed. I think it's still Alexander Wright.
Calling all Historians of Cowboys Lore....
No Question " Bullet Bob Hayes".... Olympic Champion , multiple gold medal winner
P.S. Proud owner of his autograph from his participation at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia in the 60's
The Cowboys had a guy a few years ago named Teddy Williams. He ran a 9.9 100 meter in track competition. I think Bob Hayes fastest official time was 9.1, but they say several people had hand times of 9.9 for him.
The way I phrased that I was trying to imply that Romo is more comfortable in a West Coast style offense where the deep ball isn't a big key to success, not that he's not capable of throwing it well. And idk if he's any worse at it than the next person, but there's a few guys out there that have a bigger arm and throw the deep ball more bc of it for better or worse (Stafford, Flacco, Roethlisberger, Mallett, etc.)
Pray tell, who are the deep ball specialists in the NFL today?
The Cowboys had a guy in training camp that Garrett's father Jim Garrett (a long time Cowboys scout) said was the fastest guy that he had ever seen.
Does anybody remember that story?
