Some parents are more proactive than others. Medication can make a difference in how a child with beh/emo problems acts on a daily basis, but it is up to the parents if they are consistent in giving the child the medication.
We have zero tolerance for taunting or physical hitting. They get sent away or get sent home immediately. I wish that was true for the gen ed classrooms b/c if that was the consequence for it, more typically-developing kids will be less likely to do it. Our kids are punished b/c they have impulsivity, cognitive deficits, and significant traumatic experiences to account for their misbehavior. Gen ed kids are generally ignored because the teachers or other students don't see it as a bad thing until it gets out of hand.
