Favorite Football Video Game?

EA Sports is perfect and I will buy any game from them not becuas of the name but because of the game. Ive played lots of sports game and EA is by far the leader in gaming..I cant wait till Madden 08 to come out.. They seem to amaze me every year.

Tecmo Super Bowl (SNES system)

I wish the new systems would get their acts together and allow Tecmo to make an updated version.....one compatible to PS1, 2, 3....GameCube...Wii...XBox and 360....oh and of course for the PC

Tecmo did make one for the PS1 but it wasn't very good.

so sales equate to best? EA Sports has not, will not, innovate Madden. You're getting the same crap every year. The same issues are in the game each year. They don't care about what the consumer wants in the game, it's what they want to give you. They'll take a feature that has been in other games or in their own game for years and market it as a new feature. Madden has been crap.

um...if sales are the highest as they are with madde, there must be a reason that people are buying it.

Could you be specific? What other football gaming franchise uses qb vision? What other football franchise has as good of a franchise mode? What other franchise made it necessary for a user to control WRs to have a dominant passing game?

people who hate on madden have just never played it enough for one reason or another...there is a reason franchises like Game Day, QB Club, and the 2k series couldnt compete.

IIRC, the 2K series did very, very well....especially, since it only cost $19.95.

But the NFLPA signed on with EA, giving them exclusive rights to the names of the players....so ESPN 2K5 died.

I also loved Super Tecmo Bowl as well as Joe Montana's football for the PC. There's something I like about the side view. I just can't get into the view behind the QB. I know that's supposed to be a simulation, but I can't see the entire field. I just can't pass for jack in Madden games. I run ok....and play defense ok.

well I am currently along with one of my friends playing in an online league with madden 07 for the pc. I think they are looking for a few players if anyone is interested.

Man I never know these kind of leagues existed. Do I need the game for the PC or can I play with my PS2. If I cant play with my PS2 Ill go and buy one fpr PC if you guys are going to have another season after this.

yeah its a pc game. Its only 20 bucks if you buy it. THe league has drafts with real players, real college players. Trading and all the usual.

Not sure how familiar you are with madden on the pc, but that is what the spawn feature is for, takes the franchise you play by yourself and turns it into a league where 32 human players play.

Its fun. you have to be able to host a game though. by that I mean have a fast connection, cable or dsl.

ESPN 2k cant compete, becuase madden bought the nfl liscene. 2k5 was a vastly superior game to madden. The franchise mode was awesome. You could tell every player what to do during the week...study film...position drills.. excerise...rehab. IT was 10x better than madden, just read all the reviews. Its not a coincedence that after such a good game madden bought the players names basically

brand recognition. EA Sports has been around forever. The Madden name has been around forever. Madden was once a great franchise, but that no longer is the case. Vision cone? crap. You see that crap in the Madden Tournament that is on tv? Neither of those guys play realistic football. It's about finding and exploiting the horrible AI and using it to your advantage. Only in madden can you drop your QB 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage, roll to your left or right, and fire a laser pass for a td. No pressure from defensive players anywhere in that process. In this years game on 360, fatigue was broken. You could take your running back and run him all freaking day from endzone to endzone. There were no substitutions unless you manually substituted the players. We've asked for gang tackling forever in the series, nothing. Oh but it finally shows up in the PS3 version. What about the mario running where you running back gets sucked into the back of the offensive lineman and just stands there running in place. Madden is still a good game, but it's not near the great/fun game it used to be. There are several things the 2K series did better than Madden.

all but killing the competition. They knew that 2k sports were on there heels but rather than innovate/improve their product, they just eliminated the competition. What incentive do they have now to improve the game?

My favorite is the EA NCAA football for PS2.
I have a Madden game but for some reason the defense does not play nearly the same. For that reason alone I play the EA NCAA.
