Favorite modern day rapper?

Modern day or not, I still got a thing Busta Rhymes. He may not be the hottest thing flowing right now, but his skillz on the mic will slay anyone.

Funniest thing happened a few months ago when they did a "Star Wars" on the radio and it was Busta's hits vs Fabolous hits. Fabolous didn't have a chance.

I like Kanye as an artist... He's not the greatest rapper, but generally I tend to like most things he produce.

I like the Roots and Common, LL. I respect LL alot. He and Queen Latifah are two rappers who successfully crossed over into a different genre.

I can listen to Drake and Lil Wayne, but I'm burnt out on them because of their overwhelming radio play.

Female rapper? I like Missy Elliott, Eve, MC Lyte.

Absolutely love Common, could listen to him all day. Like LL quite a bit too. And I've always been a huge Queen Latifah fan, she's one of those people that was just born more talented than everyone else..she can do anything.

As opposed to 1960's rappers?

Sorry, calling it modern day when rap is not all that old as an art just caught me funny.
Technically rap was introduced in the 70's...

Best rapper out is Lupe and it's not even close imo.

But I could listen to Jay Z, Nas, Wale, Nappy Roots, Jurassic 5 and early Kanye all day.

Just saw what WoodysGirl posted about this type of discussion not being allowed... My bad... I wont continue down this road any further, even though I consider outlawing discourse of this type, especially in the off-topic forum, to be fascist... I honestly dont get what the mods/owners are so afraid of... Cowboyszone is supposedly against SOPA and internet censorship, but isn't trying to segregate certain opinions and/or topics to the "fringe areas" of the internet, basically the same thing as endorsing censorship?

The problem is (and we've been down this road more times than we could count) is that for every view there is an opposing view and that it ends up in a big flame war where people are insulted and feelings are hurt.

Consequently we frown on anyone going down that path.

Isn't that pretty much the way it works already as it pertains to the Cowboys? I guess the difference is that you can't forbid talking about the Cowboys on a Cowboys forum.

This is the best and only approach that should be taken when it comes to these subjects . It is hard enough to maintain order when posters are debating football topics .

Oh, the irony.

Well, it's a sports forum, primarily a football forum, not a political forum. And from someone who moderated the PZ, we banned more people from that forum than we did the whole year in the Fan Zone.

So yeah, people can keep their politics to themselves and away from CZ.

Now back to your regularly scheduled rap thread.. What y'all think of 50 cent?

i like him. to me he seems like one of the realest people in rap still. Rap seems to have evolved past the harder stuff but he has just kept on making the same kind of music. Personally I enjoyed the mor gangster stuff so I appreciate some people not going pop or emo rap on us. Freddie Gibbs is a newer rapper that I enjoy, who is kind of a throwback to the later 90's rap that was my favorite.

I'm old school. They really don't make hip hop anymore, and that's what I like. Nothing new compares for me. Heck, I still love Rapper's Delight. lol

Snoop, Run DMC, Whodini, LL, Beastie Boys, some stuff from Big and Dre, various songs from the '90's by various artists, one of my favorites is Rumpshaker by Wrecks-N-Effect. Check baby check baby 1234 check baby check baby 123...

Can't believe this has gone 4 pages(with people talking about old school as well) and not one mention of Wu Tang!

I can never keep up with whose actually IN Wu Tang besides, Rza, Method Man, and Ghostface.

Method Man is another one who I like as a rapper and respect as an artist. He's another one whose been able to successfully crossover.

Redman is another guy I like.

I agree corporate Hip-Hop is mostly crap nowadays, but the underground scene has some really good artist. Here a few to check out, and not really underground, but Deltron 3030 is one of my favorite albums all-time (si-fi ramp).

Atmosphere
Brother Ali
Q Unique
Aesop Rock

Think what you want, but Jay-Z is a freemason... And when you hang around pasty old white dudes that are trying to control the world, that raises a red flag for me...

Also he named his label Rock-a-fella, as in Rockefeller... And if you know anything about the Rockefeller family, then you would know that they're ruthless in all their dealings, and that their family's aim has always been the same, to bring about a world government which they could manipulate and control... (Look it up)

Rocawear clothing: the current clothing line by rocawear shows the eye of the pyramid and many other symbols that can relate to masonry. "R" symbol on the jeans looks just like the Eye of Horus. I've seen pictures of rocawear shirts that blatantly display the symbol for freemasonry, and the pyramid with the all seeing eye...

Not to mention, Jay-Z is always doing his patented hand gesture, which is a pyramid that he he looks through... Again, the pyramid with the all seeing eye...

I never said CIA... Although I'm sure we'd be shocked if we were to uncover the number of celebrities that are CIA agents...

If you guys want to be the type of sheep that swallow everything at face value, then more power to you... But the world is much more interesting and makes more sense if you take the time to look just beneath the surface...

This whole post just cracks me up. Thank you for the good time.

BTW I have no idea if you're right and frankly I couldn't care less. It just struck me as hilarious either way.

Now for the topic...I'm not a huge rap fan so I'll note that before hand.

About the only rapper I've ever really liked is Eminem. I love his stuff. Lots of great songs from him that I love.

Outside of him I'm just not a fan, really, of any other rapper in particular. Other people have a song or two that I enjoy but he's the only rapper that has more than a couple songs I like.
